The former encampment area for Washington's troops offers splendid vistas, rolling hills and a heaping dose of American history.

In Short
Though nearly 3,000 acres of hills and scenic vistas seem largely unchanged by the passage of time, a visitors' center and designated picnic areas make the park far more hospitable today. History buffs can take a 10-mile self-guided car tour past Washington's headquarters, the National Memorial Arch and replicas of the soldiers' wooden huts.
Fall's Foliage Perfection at the Forge

This is probably the best place to see the East Coast's Fall Performance. You will not be disappointed, with the colors and the smell of home fires burning. Truely Perfect.
- Pros: very large, good parking, miles of paths
- Cons: none

The park is a wonderful testament to the rich history of Philadelphia and its suburbs. The park is beautiful and the reminders of what the Colonial Army suffered to win us our freedom is chilling. There is a wonderful quote inscribed on the large white arch that discusses what this freedom meant to the colonists and what it will hopefully mean for all American generations to come. My family visits the park every Thanksgiving to give thanks to the men and women who created our country.
