very good place to go

by izzerdo

the inn has always been a great place to go ive attended weddings, lunch, family parties, brunch on sundays with my girlfriends and recently for dinner. the menu is always a treat. anything that the inn does they do it very well. the restaurants are only the tip of the iceberg the inn has its own bakery and in house florist. if you dont want any doubt about a night out being worth it go to the inn you will be very happy.

  • Pros: live music, ambiance and menu

WOW....love the new small plate menu and jazz

by JazzyGirl

Dinner at the William Penn Inn last night was wonderful. The addition of the small plate menu is a creative way of enjoying William Penn Inn’s vast menu. We enjoyed it tapas style while listening to Father Jon play Jazz on the piano and sipping great wine. It was great to find a local restaurant in the suburbs with great Jazz, drinks and small plate menu! I highly recommend you check it out!!!!

something new on the menu!

I frequently dine at The William Penn Inn and was so pleasantly surprised during my last visit to see the new small plates on the menu. Just enough great food reasonably priced.

Dreadful service--incompetent and rude.

by Delphia

At lunch in the Commonwealth Club last week, I ordered a daiquiri, which turned out to be a big mistake. The waitress asked if I wanted it on the rocks or with salt, which should have given me my first clue. I explained that I wanted a traditional, non-frozen daiquiri. After a long delay, (everyone else's drinks had long been served), she brought me a frozen pina colada. When I said that wasn't a daiquiri, she became rude and abusive. Next, a man who identified himself as a bartender offered to get me a replacement. I said that if they didn't know how to make a daiquiri, that would be fine: I would order something else. No, no, he said, it's a simple matter. After a long delay, (by now our food had been served) he reappeared with a glass of flavored vodka. When I said that daiquiris were not made with vodka, he too became rude and defensive (although not as bad as the waitress had been), and said that that was the way they make them there!

Service, ambiance, food

by fayeson

We came to WP for a small birthday party (10). We were taken to a room straight out of a Dickens novel. The room was furnished with elegant antiques. The mantle bore a georgeous floral arrangement. The table was set elegantly with fine linen and china that would make your grandmother proud. I was reminded of Thanksgiving dinners of yesteryear. The service was superb and the food excellent. Everything was perfect. In contrast to the prim and proper table settings, the ambiance was casual, cozy, and comfortable. We had a wonderful intimate 60th birhtday celebration. We were there late, but no one came to say it's closing time. The William Penn Inn is a class act. I had the best Martini ever.

Banquet

by tog

I just recently attended a birthday party at the William Penn Inn. I never realized how beautiful and elegant the William Penn Inn is; it was the first event I've attended there and I am now looking at the possibility of having my wedding there! It was absolutely beautiful, the service superb and the food was excellent! I highly recommend checking it out for any possible banquet function or just to simply dine there. It's such a historical building and the thought of getting married there makes me feel like a part of the history.

Saturday Dinner!

by britanymarie317

I just recently had dinner this past Saturday Evening in the Commonwealth Club. It was absolutely delightful. The Atmosphere is elegant. I enjoyed perfectly cooked lamb chops and it must be one of the best preparation in Philadelphia! My husband's surf and turf was a nice gourmet twist to a traditional surf and turf. The wine list was abundant and almost too much to choose from, however the kind server helped with a recommendation that complimented both of our dinners but was economical. I definitely recommend whenever you get a chance to head to the William Penn Inn to do so. My husband and I frequently dine here!

AMAZING ANNIVERSARY!

by diningoutisamust

My husband and I are frequent diners at the William Penn Inn and we recently visited to celebrate our anniversary and to dine in the Monet Dining Room. It was absolutely amazing! The food was absolutely spectacular, the service was excellent. We were escorted to the table where a half dozen roses were waiting for us. Along with the roses we also received a complimentary cake. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my anniversary!

In response to delphia's entry... who drinks daquiri's anymore??? I don't think you are telling the whole story. Everytime time I dine at the William Penn Inn (which is often) I get impecable service along with amazing food and drink. I was just there about 2 weeks ago and got a cosmo with my dinnner... it was perfect.

Wedding fiasco

by researchrequired

I went to a wedding recently at the William Penn Inn, and despite the bride's family requesting that the filet mignon be cooked at least medium-well, I was served a too-rare steak. I sent it back, and it was a little more cooked on the outside, but not cooked on the inside. I ate a little bit of the outer, more cooked parts to be polite, but regretted it. My mother and I both got staph from the meat and were sick all night and the next day. She had also sent the meat back for a second heating.

In addition to being tainted, it was also not a very good quality filet mignon. We were quite disappointed with the William Penn Inn, which is very highly regarded in the area.

Romantic, dignified resaurant

We went there for my birthday and it was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was delicious. We were seated immediately and the service was great. The Key Lime pie was the best I ever tasted. We have been going there for years and have never been disappointed.

  • Pros: Excellent service, Beautiful. Great Food
