Awful Wedding Experience. My husband and I were looking forward to having a lovely wedding ceremony and reception at the Pennsbury Inn. We booked the entire Inn for our families to stay in from 6-27-2008 to 6-29-2008. However, we were horribly disappointed by the rude attitude and unprofessionalism of the Innkeeper, Cheryl Grono. She was rarely available to help us during those two days, and when she was available, she frequently made rude or curt comments to my guests or to me. Even when I made simple requests for extra fans to help us cool down in the June heat, she was very reluctant to help. She asked for higher tips from my brother-in-law, even though we paid for the Inn for the entire weekend. She barked at the younger children to "keep the door closed" without addressing them with any tone of civility. She allowed us to use her kitchen so that we could have a potluck, but she didn't tell us in advance that her oven wasn't working.

If you are planning a wedding, this is not the place to have it. If you want to use your own caterer, you have to pay a $500 fee. You have to use her tent rental company which can be costly. Even though we booked the Inn for the weekend, she complained that she was understaffed. She used other guests in the house to help her move food from the fridge and to clean up the breakfast table- which was one of the basic services we paid her to take care of. If you are planning a wedding or other event and you are looking for flexibility, a good attitude, and a sense of freedom while you plan, the Pennsbury Inn is NOT the place to go. It is unfortunate that whenever I think of the beautiful gardens we were married in, I also have to remember how unwelcome Cheryl made me and my family feel on one of the most important days of my life.

Best bed and breakfast!. Chadds Ford's best kept secret! I had a wonderful visit and cannot wait to go back. Skip and his wife are top notch owners.

Editorial Review. Brandywine Valley seven-room bed-and-breakfast in historically significant colonial mansion with gardens; private baths, living room with open fireplace and library.
