The best hidden secret in Philly romantic atmosphere and super caring staff!!!
by mikester777
There is no better place for a romantic date. The staff is immediately at your disposal when you need them, makes you feel like the smartest person when you make your selection and will never interrupt if you have a conversation. The musik is subtle and the wine selection is superb.
- Pros: Food quality, small and cozy
- Cons: none
Italian food? Yeah, right.

Should be called American Bistro. The food doesn't even resemble "true" Italian food. Over-priced. Unhappy staff. Bla food.
i would definitely recommend this place!

I love the Italian Bistro. A few times the owner wasactually walking around the resturant making sure everything was ok. I even order the Fishermans Diablo and didnt want the scallops however wanted it replaced with a lobster tail. They made my dinner the way I asked for it. The staff is very pleasant and the food always seem to taste fresh. During a poker party we were having I suggested we call the Bistro to ask if we could get some bruschetta however we needed at least 30. They gave us a really good deal and and everyone loved it. The oil they have is the best Ive ever tasted.....very warm environment and pleasant scenery. It feels like old world......I just recommended Italian Bistro for our company party..actually just got off the phone with them. Would highly recommend the Italian Bistro on Welsh Road....I didnt particulary like the one in Cherry Hill though.

Decent Italian food

I was sold on this restaurant by the reviews here and the 100+ items on their menu. Unfortunately, my expectations weren't met. My wife and I were seated immediately. That's expected as we did showed up at 6pm on a Tuesday night. Our server seemed knowledgeable of the menu and was very nice. We started with fried calamari and zucchini. That was good. My wife had Penne Siciliane while I had the Lasagna Bolognese. Her penne was good. I normally don't eat eggplant but I tried hers and I was pleasantly surprised. However, the lasagna was served warm. Not hot. I question as to whether the lasagna was freshly made or whether my wifes penne took longer to cook and they just had my lasagna sitting under a heat lamp. Despite the temperature of the entree, it was still decent. Overall, the restaurant is a good deal for the money.
- Pros: Fair prices, good service
- Cons: Lasagna served warm, not hot.
Great Every Time!

I've beem going here for years on a consistent basis & it's definately the best Italian in the Northeast. The homemade seafood manicotti & Vodka sacchetti are among my favorites. Their pasta with seafood features are also extremely good. The pastry chef does a real nice job here. They bring out a tray with about 10 different homemade desserts...there is no way to say no!
- Pros: food service atmosphere
DELICIOUS SEAFOOD & PASTA

This is my favorite restaurant in the Northeast. Their seafood specialties are amazing! Try the Fisherman fra diavalo or Lobster Linguine. Home made gnocchi are also delicious.
- Pros: Seafood, Pasta
- Cons: crowded
Dinner is Good, Lunch No Good

The Italian Bistro at dinner does have an extensive menu and service for the most part has been good though many times you are packed in the dining area like sardines. My overall view on the Bistro took a big turn backwards during a recent experience at lunch. First the service was slow and inadequate. Second I ordered a pannini sandwich which I am still trying to identify which part of Italy it came from. I have enjoyed many pannini sandwiches at other eateries in the past but have never been served this sandwich in a dough pouch. Italian food should be memorable this lunch was not. So many pseudo-Italian restaurants in Northeast Philly!!!
Decent pasta dishes, good atmosphere

My wife and I visited the Italian Bistro for the first time last week in my quest for the best pizza in Philadelphia. We were seated fast and our waitress was very polite and quite efficient. The pizza was good although it was slightly burnt in some places but I understand. Nonetheless, it was very fresh and tasty. My wife had pasta and she loved it. I tasted it and was very fresh and tasty.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will revisit it soon.
- Pros: Nice ambience, good meals
- Cons: None
