I have shopped on 9th street my entire life. Claudio's is where we usually go for our oil and vinegar. I was just there Saturday and I have never been treated so RUDEly by two of the guys that were supposed to be waiting on people. My sister and I had to ASK for a sample of the cheese the woman next to us was buying and the man told us NO, that we had to wait until it was our turn. We promptly left and went to DeBruno Bros and couple of doors down and could not be more happy with the service. We spent $180 there. Your bad luck your rude people at Claudios.

hi all. i live in the philly suburbs and have shopped 9th street market many times. it can be a problematic with the crowds and parking etc. so when i go i like to buy lots of good things. many good stores here with fish, meats, cheeses, olives, oils, etc... 2 major cheese stores Claudio's and DiBruno Bros. with DoBrunio Bros getting my vote. I once purchased a 2 lb wedge of cheese from Claudio's and when I got home we sat down to enjoy some Reggiano and Parm with figs, I found the cheese was terrible. i called to claudios and complained-they told me to bring it back-with no apology and living an hour away, I threw it in the trash and never went back. DiBruno Bros. products are at least as good and the people there are much more customer friendly. Of those two, go to DiBruno Bros. and enjoy-a great place for foodies-yum
Pros: can be good
Cons: but has been below standard for quality and customer service

Claudios is a great place regardless if you are a professional chef or know nothing about Italian food. The staff are patient and will offer you many things to try without you even asking. They are knowledgeable and have an incredible selection of cheeses, imported foods, italian cold cuts and some prepared food (check out their prepared food place next door). Unlike their overpriced competitor a few blocks down, Claudios is easy to look around in and you're never rushed, not to mention they are pretty reasonably priced. The only place I'll go.

This store has many fine products but the mozzarella and scamorza are not too good. The mozzarella has good texture but something is missing with the flavor. Should be more creamy tasting. As far as the scamorza goes it is not even close to the real thing it is dry and tough like rubber. There is much far superior product of this nature available in the North Jersey metro New York area & other places. They opened a very nice mozzarella shop next to the main store but they need some help with the quality of cheese production. I MUST ADD THE HOMEMADE PEPPERONI IS THE BEST! AUTHENTIC HOT & SWEET SOPPRESSATA & DRY SAUSAGE.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Good Soppressata, Dry Sausage, Pepperoni, Olives & Cheese
