Love the food. Best Cheese Steaks try it with provolone! Best hot pepper selection too! Who whadda thought?!! Also for best pizza in Roxborough try Alex's Pizza but they don't deliver.

Pros: delicious food that melts in your mouth

Cons: a moment on your lips...forever on your hips!

I work nearby and lunch out quite a bit. When the sun is high, I hunger for MEAT!!!!! YUMMY MEAT!!...really Yummy MOUTHWATERING soft bread. I've tried all the delis and steakhouse in a 5 mile radius in search for my quest. Without a doubt, D'Alessandros quenches my red meat cravings... time and time again.

Pros: Quality meat. Friendly staff.

Cons: Nothing I can think of!

Dale's use to be the best cheesesteaks in Philly (when it was family owned). Ever since St. Pats day Dale's was sold out of the family. It is now run by Greeks who are apparently cheep. The meat is fatty and the sauce is sub-par. If you go after 10PM many nights the roles are hard and sometimes even cold. Many of the original faces are now gone and have been replaced by mexicans (nothing against mexicans but its just not dalessandro's). RIP Dalessandro's, I am now starting a new life at Chubby's.

Cons: Much grissle in meat, not the same after it was sold.

I've tried them all since moving to Philly 5 years ago and without a doubt, hands down Dalessandro's is the best!

Pros: Great Cheesesteak

Cons: Cash only

When you go to Philly, you get a cheesesteak. And when you want the best cheesesteak, you go to Dalessandro's. I've got the address programmed into my GPS and whenever I'm close (within 75 miles or so) I make the detour. They are that good. I also have to bring about 10 back to the folks up here in CT because there ain't no better. A day or two later when you heat em up right, they are just as good as the day they were made. Mmmmmm mmmmmm good! I've tried em all and there's no beating the original... Dalessandro's.

Pros: Fantastic Cheesesteaks, friendly people

Cons: Can't think of any

Overrated steak shop, Go to Chubby's. I've been eating cheesesteaks throughout the Philly area for decades now, oh and yes I'm born and raised. The best steaks aren't Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, or Dalessandro's, it's Chubby's across the street. The service is fantastic and sandwich is excellent. Good roll, quality chopped meat, great hot peppers, a nice sandwich overall that has both the quality and quantity. Go to this hidden away gem across the street from Dalessandro's.

If I had to choose a best cheesesteak, I'd go with Dalessandro's. Gooey Looey's would be a close second. Getting a cheesesteak with ketchup and a Wishniak is the way to go. It's highly addictive.

Pros: Best Cheesesteak

Cons: Crowded

I don't care how good there cheesesteaks are I refuse to wait 45minutes in a stuffy shoebox for any cheese steak. Workers are as slow as you get.

Pros: food good

Cons: speed of service terrible

but not as great as Larry's on 54th Street. The place is incredibly filthy, but I didn't come here for the atmosphere. I ordered a cheesesteak w/ fried onions and ketchup. It looked delicious but it came to us almost cold. I couldn't taste the cheese and the meat was too finely minced to a point that it's was too mushy. I loved the humongous portions, the soft bread and the service. This place is MUCH better than those cheesesteak tourist attractions in South Philly but I prefer Larry's. I would rank Dalessandro's as #2 cheesesteak joint.

Pros: Service, Cheap

Cons: COLD cheesesteak, Limited Seating, FILTHY

Roxborough's own king of steaks gives those famous South Philly boys some tough competition.  See the full editorial review.

Another bonus: This place sells beer. (Pat's and Geno's don't.)
