I love to frequent this spot when I am in town. Great food and ambience, and you cant go wrong with the waitstaff. Lauren always waits on me and never lets me down.
Great Night Spot
by josef27
Me, my girlfriend and my friend just went to Silk City for the first time tonight. It was really cool, I deffinitely recommend it. My friend and I had burgers, which were excellent, and my girlfriend had the fries which were pretty great too. It has a fun grungy atmosphere, being a small diner in Nothern Liberties. Check it out, it's open 24 hours on the weekends and til midnight on weeknights.
- Pros: grungy atmoshpere, fries, burgers
- Cons: none if you dont mind, parking on spring, garden st.
A quintessential American eating experience that goes beyond mere milk shakes and meat loaf.

In Short
This boisterous spot is classic Americana, with its sleek, silver art-deco exterior accented by the glow of neon. Patrons sitting at the long counter sip coffee and stare at tempting desserts within glass cabinets. Each booth is installed with an individual Seeburg Wall-o-Matic offering 25-cent access to the jukebox's rare 45s. The menu features standard breakfast fare, meat loaf, turkey clubs and burgers, as well as atypical fare like spicy jerk chicken and eggplant sandwiches.
The French Toat Rocks!

My husband and I go every weekend. The food is typical diner fare which is fine by me but what keeps us coming back is the DRAMA! Its so much fun to watch the wait staff interact with each other. They're hilarious. Food AND entertainment...cant beat it! I love Silk City...
- Pros: Quick service, cool retro interior

the food is usually pretty good - sweet potato fries and a milkshake are so good together

- Cons: staff can be slow and, apathetic, often crowded
Great Food!!
by grtguy069
I used the Citysearch to find a good place to eat breakfast early in the morning, as I was picking up my brother at the Airport at 6:30AM. I decided that we would try this place. What a pleasant surprise!! We both got exactly what was ordered, the service was promt and courteous, and the food was very good and the portions were large. The prices are extremely reasonable, and although the decor was a bit lacking, its a great place for breakfast!!
- Pros: Grreat food, inexpensive, parking
- Cons: decor
Best Diner in Philly
by blitz1940
This is where my husband and I go for meals when we are in Philadelphia. They have an excellent breakfast menu and their eggs benedict are very good. Their lunch specials are great and offer a nice variety of International Cuisine. As for desserts, their apple pie is scrumptious especially when it is slightly warmed up and served ala mode.
- Pros: Excellent Food, Inexpensive, Friendly Staff
overrated stool

The tiny menu shatters any resemblance to the quintessential American diner. Our food was mediocre at best and the service was casually awful.
Dirty Dishes
by rubbrbndmn
The place was very dirty. The water glasses had what looked like ashes and crumbs in the bottom. They do not give refills on soft drinks. There is no parking. Finally, the food and service was not good enough to be worth going back.
- Pros: inexpensive, open late
- Cons: Filthy, bad parking
Sobering-Up food
by prettie77
What better way to end a night but over a plate of sweet potato fries and a milkshake?? Its open 24 hours on the weekend so staying out late isn't a problem if you're hungry. Just prepared to wait in line at about 2 am after the bars let out, but its a great time to people watch. I reccommened their fries and the black russian, and maybe a piece of pie to top it off.
- Pros: location, price, people
- Cons: the wait, small, parking
