Unique vintage clothing, jewelry, costumes and linens

by calligraphy

This store is amazing -- you never know what you will find -- from beautiful, hand-made vintage linens to authentic 1920's flapper dresses to leather skirts and jackets to 1950's sweaters and coats to antique jewelry! Most items are one-of-a-kind. There are a few reproductions. The costumes are numerous and stupendous! If you need a drop-dead outfit for a party or a winning costume for a play or party or beautiful linens to decorate your home, this is the place to go!

  • Pros: beautiful vintage items
  • Cons: unusual hours -- call before visiting!

Smells like Granny's attic, looks like the combined wardrobe of Carol Brady and Holly Golightly.

In Short
Vintage finds and costume-store goodies stock this funky Mount Airy shop. Among upscale vintage finds are loads of defunct local labels: a mink-trimmed Paramount of Philadelphia coat, a silk floral pantsuit by the Strawbridge Shop. Many items bear original tags. There's not much the store doesn't have. Mummers' costumes and crinolines, tuxedoes and theater leftovers, colonial garb and magician's capes, and of course, Elvis.

This is a thrift store

by john1965philly

If you want to save some cash on your clothes, then this is the place. if you want costumes, you had better have a very creative mind and the ability to enhance it yourself. Yes an art school student who can sew would be able to alter some of these items to look like a costume, but they don't really have any "ready to go" outfits. They do have a stock of cheaper hairsprays and other stuff that was OK. It would take too much work to look goo with this stuff.

  • Pros: stock wigs too, bizare stuff here
  • Cons: moth balls smell, hard to find, not convenient to CC
