great vintage store!

by gotan34

i would always windowshop at this place but for some reason never went in. when i finally did it was quite a surprise! the staff was very helpful and somehow knew where everything was - they also recommended some great restaurants for me to take my parents! since the store has a lot of breakable items, just make sure to leave your large bag with the staff and ask them to reach something you're a little nervous about handling.

you definitely have to take your time to look at everything - there are great treasures tucked away in every corner!

  • Pros: great antique housewares, vintage clothing, cool retro gifts
  • Cons: it can get a little crowded at times

What a "WONDERFUL" surprise!!

by rupertbird

I visited NYC for two weeks from SF and was informed that Philadelphia was a must see for the Art Museum and the Rodin Museum. This was one of the best side trips I have ever made..So many great things to see and Very friendly people..especially charming were the little shops and restaurants..One shop in particular stand out..Blendo..Amazing Italian designer jewelry for a fair $$.. and the oddest and most unique little objects..I guess you could call them gifts but I'm keeping them all for myself..Is that bad??Cute bags and sweet people..What else could you wish for??I love San Francisco but Philly looks like a good second choice on the best place to live scale.

  • Pros: sweet little and friendly
  • Cons: It's not in San Francisco

BEST vintage store in Philly!

by cgalen

This is the wildest find! I love combing thru this menagerie of offerings in a witch's attic setting. Everyday is Halloween @ Blendo! You can find a glittering rubbr ring that flashes for your 4 yr. old or a $100.00 cocktail dress from the 50's, beaded to perfection! I just luv wandering around this Pine St. store. The side walk sale is really fun and available daily! So much fun.

Immature, disrespectful Worker

by dar66

I have been in this store quite a few times over the years and always had good customer service, as well as found some unique, affordable items. However, the other day I was in there to pick up some last minute items and was treated so horrendously that I will probably never return to the store. I accidentally dropped an item I was purchasing anyway (which by the way no damage was done to it) and a middle aged women with glasses, whom I never seen there before, tyrrated over to me in a huff, grabbed everything out of my hands and then proceeded to check all the store items around me, after I informed her that I only dropped a $10.00 item that I was purchasing anyway. She then proceeded to talk about me to another women and when she saw I noticed she got real quite and changed the subject. I find it shocking a women probably twice my age would act in such a juvenile manner. Having worked in customer service for years when I was younger, I have never treated a paying client with such disrespect. Probably the nastiest women I ever encountered, that was just plain mean and miserable.

  • Pros: Unique items, affordable
  • Cons: Most of the employees are nice, but one was so mean I will not return

Sassy vintage boutique that's as fun to dig into as a general store.

by Contributor

In Short
It's Antique Row for beginners at Mary Ann Cardellino's divinely cluttered hodgepodge of kitsch and collectibles. A sidewalk assortment of straw sunflowers and Formica tables is just the tip of the iceberg. Stepping through the door means rediscovering your grandma's collection of Easter bonnets, printed linen tablecloths, 1950s martini shakers and art-deco cabinets mixed with new items like tie-dyed onesies, letterpress stationery and grape lip gloss, all as you hum to the tunes of vintage Ella.

Friendly staff, great stuff, huge variety

by cherylbug

I totally agree with the previous reviewer. Today I got an awesome blue brocade vintage dress for only $25! I also walked out with a CA tea towel and a fluffy pin for my friend. They have a huge variety of handbags, jewelry and "gift" items including some very cute t's. I was very pleased with how friendly the staff was (helping me put a dress on over my existing clothes) and also to find that they accept credit cards. They also have a bunch of cute household items. I will definitely be going back and so should you.

  • Pros: Friendly staff, great variety of stuff and prices, take credit cards
  • Cons: Let them hold your large bags - you just might break something; it's a small space

best of philly

I have lived in Philly for over 20 years and this is by far the most outstanding store there is. It's not that big but they make use of the space amazingly - there is a TON of awesome awesome items - this is the BEST place to go if your buying a gift for someone who 'has everything' - the prices are low too - and the ladies that run it are super friendly. this is a MUST shop kinda place becuase you'll fall in love with it...
