never order food there
by dulcy
I couldn't get a dinner order placed as the lone bartender was busy filling drinks- then she got the food order wrong and then the food was wilted and poorly done. Her customer service was blatantly absent and she kept correcting the wait staff in a very stern manner in front of the customer.
- Pros: cold beer
- Cons: very poor service at the bar by waitress and waiter
Great Pub Grub and an EXCELLENT beer selection
by hurley565
Moriarty's has a great neighborhood bar/restaurant feel to it. Just as important, if not more, the pub grub is really good(wings, etc.). Also, if you want a great draft beer selection(with a couple of Belgians on tap), this is the place. Very good service too.
- Pros: Beer Selection, Wings
Horrible

Entered the restaurant, was asked if we wanted to sit at a tiny table, squished in a corner... not sure what the alternative was. We had a speaker directly overhead and the music was LOUD. We asked the waitress if the music could be turned down - to her credit, she did ask someone, but was told no. It took a long time for the wings to come out, and, honestly, they weren't too bad. Certainly wouldn't call them the best in the city, though. Dinner arrived - the Shepard's Pie was inedible. I sent it back nearly untouched, and the waitress never asked why I hadn't eaten any of it. She left us with our bill for 15 minutes - I finally took it to the bar, but the bartender refused to take it. Another waitress took the check and tried to ring it up. She said my card was no good... turns out the swipe thing was broken! AWFUL experience!
- Pros: Cold beer
- Cons: Food was terrible!
what?
by Phillysouldancer75
I went here twice in one week. First time - impressed by the average food for a pretty cheap and convenient happy hour....ok, that was nice. So I went back with a friend a few days later.
Second time I went --- mysteriously the waitress demanded my ID for collateral for my friend and I (which are very unpretentious late 30 something women) to eat outside - and have beers OUT FRONT....? during happy hour. I could understand if I looked like a drunken teenager...but why all of the sudden THIS time?
rules are rules --- but it was shadey...then she was impossible to track down for drink refills and the check...
note to management --- keep your rules, drink prices, and service consistent - it reeks of being unprofessional otherwise...there is TOO much competition on this street for that nonsense.
Ps - Irish pub never asked for my id....?!
- Pros: location is convenient, cheap happy hour
- Cons: seriously - are you serious? Bad service
Good happy hour/beer selection- average food
by cgl4
They have a good selection of beers on tap with a nice happy hour for beers. The food is average- canned mushrooms on the burgers. Canned enchilada sauce without much flavor on the Mexican. . Service was good and quick and staff generally pleasant. . Nice atmosphere.
- Pros: Nice Atmosphere. Good beer selection on tap.
- Cons: Average unimaginative food.
Can't wait to go back

Looked for days on Citysearch to find the perfect place for some family and friends to meet. Wanted a place with decent food, service, beers, ambiance, and above all, wanted to feel comfortable and relaxed. After reading many reviews, settled on Moriarty's and it did not disappoint! First I called the restaurant with a couple of questions and the girl that answered the phone was very pleasant and helpful. Explained what I was looking for in seating and she was happy to oblige. Making a reservation about an hour before our arrival was not a problem either. When we first got there I loved the feeling of the place. Cozy, not cramped. Busy, not loud. The person I spoke to on the phone greeted us, and let us know it would be a few minutes until they could seat us (that was fine, we were a tad early). When she did seat us, it was to a booth where the table moved. If you have ever sat at a booth where the table did not move, you'll understand why this is appreciated. The skinny's could move it closer and the not so skinny's were given more room. Then there was the service. Our server was great. On top of things but not always interrupting, very helpful with the menu also. Only 2 small things bothered me. She didn't give her name, and didn't smile much. But that didn't detract from the very good service she gave us. The food: tried the wings per other reviews and while the were very good, I can't say they were the BEST I've ever had. I also didn't like the very thin blue cheese "sauce" served on the side. Taste was good, but like it thicker. 2 of us ordered the burger with blue cheese and bacon and from the way it read on the menu, we expected a pile of bc crumbles on top. Nope, only the thin sauce on the side. That was the only real disappointment though. Our burgers were cooked exactly as we asked (med and mr). The salmon and shepard's pie were excellent. All in all, can't wait to go back. Won't wait for a visit from family next time!!
- Pros: Nice, helpful staff, good food and brews.
- Cons: Blue cheese 'sauce'
Best wings anywhere, ever.
by LTS04
I have eaten wings at nearly every bar in center city Philadelphia, and in hundreds of restaurants and bars in the US. Moriarty's wings are the best I've ever eaten. The service is excellent and the beers on tap are diverse and reasonably priced. If you're in town for a show or a game, definitely stop in. If you live in NE Philly, make the trip. Nothing up in Mayfair or Tacony compares to this.
- Pros: The wings.
- Cons: Other menu items are just ok.
Wings That I Can't Live Without!
by prwagner3
I lived near Moriarity's for 6 years and the wings kept me coming back. I now live in South Philly and make the trip just to have more!
It's a very busy place, so it can sometimes be hard to get a table and the waiters are very busy. But the wings are the best in Philly!
- Pros: Buffalo Wings!!!!
- Cons: Very Busy
awesome beer and wings
by ctjoe
They really do live up to their reputation on the hot wings. I ordered them being hungry, expecting them to be par for the course. I was wrong. They were the best wings I have had to date anywhere. The portion was huge also. Their beer selection is outstanding in a town full of bars with great beer. It gets very crowded, ttry to get in early for food ( 6 ), later for bar life. Highly recommended, a pleasant surprise that surpassed my expectations.
- Pros: Tremendous wings, great beer
- Cons: can get crowded
Great burgers
by CenterCity
Love the big juicy burgers and the fun atmosphere. Can be a little noisy and crowded, but that's its charm. Good prices, good food, decent portions. Wish they'd lose the trendy new sidewalk cafe - sidewalk is way too narrow for the tables, and that "side street" is just a glorified alley.
- Pros: Burgers, atmosphere
- Cons: Sidewalk tables, karaoke (but I hate all karaoke)
