nice and convenient
by bcuua
Stayed there over 2008 Army Navy weekend. Very convenient, could and did walk to China town and even walked back from Little Italy. Very accomadating staff, rooms a bit small, pillows can really be upgraded. Complimentary breakfast very nice, didn't eat in restaurant, understand that food was nice. Limited internet access, moderate exercise room, could use a treadmill. Overall, very clean, "quaint" best way to describe it. Very nice alternative to large hotel such as hyat or marriout, definately would stay there again.Front desk very accomadating, although not much help for restaurant recommendations.
Very Clean, Nothing great about the views, Loud

We parked in the VALET parking area next to the hotel. The fee was VERY high...$20 for the night! We then entered the hotel. The lobby is terribly small with worn out seating. The front "desk" is tiny. We went up to our room which was very clean, with the only issue being a small amount of mold in the jacuzzi tub area. The tub was suppoed to be big enough for two but can really only fit one comfortably. The heater kicked on and went off through out the night and the pillows were the WORST ever! When someone walked in the room overhead, the light in our room shook and the room was hardly sound proof. Ours overlooked an alley with boarded up windows and port-o-potties.
When we went to get our car, the valet service (not owned by the hotel but really the only place to park), the valet service had put our car into a cement pole enough to dent the bumper. We then waited for 45 minutes for a manager to show up to take care of the problem.
Honestly, other than the hotel being really clean, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
- Pros: Cleanliness
- Cons: Parking, cost of hotel & parking, noise level, pillows
Classic architecture within walking distance of the historic district and Penn's Landing.

In Short
Once a commercial building, this building has been artfully refurbished to reflect a charming European inn. Picture exposed brick, wrought-iron beds, Chippendale-esque furnishings, fireplaces and hot tubs in one of the best locations in town. Rooms are decorated in rich, warm colors and include terry-cloth bathrobes to wear while enjoying complimentary daily newspaper and breakfast. Deluxe rooms also feature fireplaces and Jacuzzis.
Best Romantic Boutique Hotel in the City!

Quiet, Victorian setting, gas fireplace, jacuzzi tubs that comfortably fit two people, and very conveniently located to great restaurants/clubs. What more needs to be said.
- Pros: Ambience, Room Quality
- Cons: Parking - small lot
Very Romantic

I loved the Penn's View hotel for the romantic room and the excellent location. We stayed in the King size deluxe room with a fireplace. Downstairs before dinner we went to Il Bar to try flights of wine which was different and fun. We walked through the park to Moshulu for dinner which was also different, fun, and the food was fanastic! Penn's View is very close to lots of fun bars and nightclubs which we hit on our way back from dinner. The free continential breakfast the next day topped off a perfect weekend.
- Pros: great location, comfortable, romantic
- Cons: expensive, rough neighborhood, traffic noise
Fantastic boutique hotel

We used Penn's View for our out-of-town wedding guests, and I stayed there myself the night before our wedding. Nick, who handles groups, and Antonio, at the front desk, couldn't have been more accomodating. The rooms are excellent, well-appointed, and cozy. The views? Well, I suppose they're not terribly good: a highway on one side and a parking lot on the other. But you're in the heart of historic Philadelphia; there are plenty of things to look at. All in all, a sweet downtown hotel that doesn't behave like an impersonal chain. I highly recommend.
- Pros: service, responsive, location
- Cons: view
HOME AWAY FROM HOME

LORI AND I JOURNEYED TO PHILLY FOR A LONG PRE-HOLIDAY LONG WEEKEND. FROM THE MOMENT THAT WE WALKED INTO THE PENN'S VIEW THROUGH TO CHECKOUT WE FELT LIKE WE WERE TREATEDLIKE MEMBERS OF A SPECIAL FAMILY. ANTONIO AT THE FRONT DESK COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE ACCOMODATING, OUR HOUSEKEEPER WAS VERY ATTENTIVE, AND THE WAIT STAFF IN THE DINING ROOM WAS EXCELLENT. OUR ACCOMODATIONS WERE SPACIOUS AND VERY COMFORTABLE. WE HAD A GREAT STAY AND WILL BE BACK.
- Pros: STAFF, ACCOMODATIONS, GREAT RESTURANT

What a wonderful little treasure tucked away in the heart of Old City! All the charm of a European B&B with the amenities of an upscale chain. Fine dining and wining in Panorama/Il Bar just steps away from your guest room. Within comfortable walking distance to galleries, boutiques, nightlife, and historical attractions. A gem!
