I had my hair cut a few weeks back and absolutely love the work he did. I hadn't read any reviews prior to going in, just happened to walk in and get a fabulous cut! I have curly/ wavy hair and now it looks great curly or blown out. I would agree with some other reviews that Joseph does not ask or cut the way you say you want it but in my opinion if you go to someone as great as him and pay what he charges you shouldn't have to tell him exactly what you want. He is great at what he does and doesn't need any direction.

Pros: takes his time, quality work

Cons: strange receptionist

Strangers tell me how lovely my hair is! Since Joseph started cutting it, my hair is lively, healthy, and a happy set of curls. Joseph knows what he's doing with curls, and will commit to making your hair look great, if you will too. The result: a person feels beautiful with a great head of hair. He's an "artiste" and if you want your curls to look good, trust his judgment. I get good, eclectic conversations; attentiveness, and I walk out the door feeling marvelous. It's worth it!

Pros: Curly locks look wonderful

Cons: Be sure you're not in a rush for a cut/style

stay away!!! stay way!! he chopped my hair so bad...so uneven..does not listen to what you want as a customer....stay away!!! knows nothing about color...just trust ..me...stay away!! Finally i found a great Salon called Vanity..they did a great color correction and cut...this guy should be reported!! people cant believe what he has done to my hair! finally the nightmare is over...PLEASE DO NOT GO TO HIM!!!! HE SHOULD NOT GET ONE MORE PENNY FROM INNOCENT PEOPLE!

Cons: does not listen to customers about waht THEY want for their hair!

I have been considering for months going natural (curly) prior to my husband and me entering the Peace Corps next year but I had a trip planned back to Boston and a reunion with former colleagues the next week. Joseph wanted me to come in for "the cut." He had also said that he was not quite sure what my other salon had been using on my hair because even though it was short, it had frizzy ends. The cut was great (everyone who saw it loved it) but as the weekend proceeded the hair color appeared to have too much contrast particularly in down lights. I left a panic message on Sunday, fearing I would have to face my friends with my hair the way it looked. Joseph called me immediately when he opened the salon and asked me to come in as soon as I could so he could look at it and figure out how to help me. He was concerned, attentive and determined to fix my hair so I could walk out the door feeling great about my hair and myself. He did and I did. I have not had to use a comb or a brush since Joseph cut my hair and every day get up and my hair looks terrific with just a fluffing. Joseph encouraged me to talk to him about any issue I had about my hair, to break out of my usual hair care habits and at 62 years old took me from having "old lady hair" to being "perky." Thanks Joseph for caring about my hair as much as I do and making me happy to have curly hair again. You can bet I will be back!

Pros: The best salon magazine collection ever - foreign and domestic

Cons: You have to be comfortable getting your hair cut in a picture window.

I got a terrific haircut at Signatures, and then, when I couldn't maintain it and went back, Joseph re-cut my hair into a simpler style, which he painstakingly showed me how to keep up. Both times, when I walked out of his salon my hair looked better than it ever had before.

For years, I have wished for a hair stylist to come into my life who was a true artist and could bring out the best look for me in my hair. It always used to bother me when stylists would ask me how I wanted my hair cut. How should I know? I don't understand the shape of my face, or my skull, or how my hair grows. I wished for an expert who would know what would look best on me - and he exists! I was finally blessed with meeting Joseph. Now I can relax and know that my hair will always look fantastic. I have delegated the responsibility for my tresses to the Master.

Pros: Eclectic interior design, great music, royalty treatment! Close to public transportation:)

After fighting with my curls for 20-something years, I've finally found someone who can make them manageable and even enjoyable. Joseph performs magic on my hair and then doesn't try to blow-dry it straight after cutting it like every other hairdresser on earth. Living in OH now, I try to schedule my haircuts when I'm visiting Philadelphia just so Joseph can cut it....not always easy, but definitely worth the wait.

Pros: love my hair when i leave

Cons: hard to find parking in center city, but worth the hassle

Joseph is certainly talented and has the ability to cut hair very well. As I was waiting for my hair cut, I was watching him cut the hair of the woman before me. Her hair looked gorgeous!! Having heard that you'll either love him or hate him, I thought the people who wrote bad reviews just hated his eccentric personality. I always thought who cares about his personality if he can give you a great hair cut?!?!! So I gave him a shot. Although talented, unfortunately for me, I wasn't really satisfied with my pricey hair cut. I have curly hair. And I think he cut mine as if it was straight hair (typical). I didn't want length taken off, and it was (I'm still heart broken, because ANYONE WITH CURLY HAIR KNOWS that it takes FOREVER to grow long!) And the "cut" was not for me. Joseph is actually a nice guy and talented. But the problem with him and other stylists who think they're great is that they don't listen to you. I've known my hair for 20+ years and if anyone knows the most about my hair...it's ME and not someone who's seen it for 10minutes. I don't deny that he has skills, but what good are his skills if they can't be used in the way that satisfies me. I started going to hair cutters that are cheaper, less full of themselves, and who listen. Hope this helped.

Thought I would spend some extra money on a hair cut for the holidays. Looked at the reveiws and believed that this would be the place. I should have listened to the negative reviews. Joseph thinks he is god of hair. Way too long for a cut, expensive, and he is not a pleasant person. My hair looked ok but when I went to my normal hair dresser I was embarassed when she showed me how uneven the cut was. She helped me out. Don't waste your money and time. I have since talked to others who have been lured in by his success and all of them never went back and agreed with my review.

I have been getting my hair cuts at Signatures by for several years now. I have never had a bad one - I wouldn't go anywhere else.
