DO NOT RECOMMENT FOR ELECTROLYSIS
by Mjl1127
RUDE. Completely dissatisfied with the electrolysis treatment. There is no sign of certification anywhere either. I have been getting electrolysis done for nine months now, but had to find a new esthetician because I recently moved to Philadelphia. I had been going every two-three weeks with little growth. Upon going to The Body Klinic, I notice re-growth within the first week. This should have absolutely NOT happened, I called and went in for her to see what I was talking about. I will give credit that they allowed me a second session without charge, however the entire time she scolded me on how I had no idea what I was talking about and I should have never questioned her performance. She was belittling and treating me as if I had no clue what electrolysis was. Completely rude, could barely understand her too. DO NOT RECOMMEND for electrolysis, if I could give 0 stars I would... absolutely awful.
- Pros: None.
- Cons: Customer Services, Treatment, Everything

My boyfriend bought me a gift card in September for $200, which I kept saving for that day when I would need it most. Well that day came, so I took off a day from work last week and booked myself a day at the spa. When I called to make my appointment, I was asked to give the gift card number. I did not have the gift card with me, so I received three more phone calls over the next few days all asking for the gif card number. I finally remembered to call back and give them the number. It was odd and unprofessional, but I did not think much of it. I arrived the next day and while I was waiting, the receptionist, who was very unprofessional and quite nasty (not what one is expecting for a relaxing day at the spa) kept staring at her computer and shaking her head. I finally asked what was wrong and they said my gift card had already been redeemed and therefore was worthless. Apparently they redeemed my gift card back in October when I had previously scheduled an appointment, which I called to cancel days in advance. The receptionist while remembering my cancellation, claimed that I had rescheduled but failed to make the rescheduled appointment or cancel it. Ironically enough, the "rescheduled" date was a day I was away on vacation. I politely laughed and explained that there must be a misunderstanding. Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, they refused to recognize my gift card and offered a discounted service! I was outraged! What they did is steal $200 and then just say that was the policy for failing to show up to my "rescheduled" appointment. It was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. There was clearly a misunderstanding, but instead of treating their customer with respect and giving a client the benefit of the doubt, they just stole my $200. I went to Juju later that day in Bella Vista and all of my tension (both previous and from that day) was worked out of me. Juju was wonderful. Professional, courteous, and not a bunch of thieves. Please do not give your business to the Body Klinic. A place like that should not be in business.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Everything
My stylist GONE!! But I found him for you
by LabelLover1968
I was just at the body klinic and was informed by a very rude old russian lady that my new amazing stylist danny (the one with the excellent reviews the bad ones are about this greesy older mexican man i guess was hired to replace him) was no longer working there.... And i just found him too. And just like the other review my hair was incredible. I would have been completely devistaed IF i hadnt gotten his personal contact info. Which i will post or you can email me. Now hes still available and was able to come to my house. It was even better not having to go out after a long day of work. Being able to relax and be pampered in my pjs was awesome. Danny is the best. His cell is 2672070829 and hes on face book under his email brantbaby24@aol I give him 5 stars and the spa only 1 now that he's gone
- Pros: They helped me find my new at home stylist
- Cons: nasty old russian lady
Exactly what I needed...
by LGot
I first arrived at TBK in early September, when I moved back to the city, based on the recommendation of a close friend. I was promptly greeted by a super friendly and energetic receptionist (Mira) who seemed eager to meet me right from the get go. Shortly after, I was introduced to (Biljana) my aesthetician who entered the room in the same fashion. In addition to being eager to meet me she was also eager to get my treatment underway. After patronizing various other places in the city I would say that the level of service was right up there with what I have received in the past from A.B. and far surpassed the previous treatments from Topp***.
Recently, after much debate, I decide to incorporate a hair treatment into my regular TBK regimen. I was hesitant at first because hair has only recently been added; but all my doubts were pushed aside when my stylist (Julian) came in prior to my service just to meet me and get to know my hair on a more personal level! To sum it up in four words ‘it was exactly what I needed.’ I couldn’t have been more pleased with the cut, the color and the education I received while he was doing it. To anyone who has never been to TBK you are surely missing out. Though small, this ‘urban retreat’ is just that. Leave the worries and bustle of the city behind when you walk through the door and be prepared to be pampered!
- Pros: Great service and friendly staff
City's best waxing
by Snandee
I have searched long and far for the perfect bikini wax and I've found it! The Body Klinic is not only clean, but the staff is so friendly and make you feel so welcome! I was referred to Body Klinic by a friend when I lived in the city have been going there for my waxing for the past 3 years. I now live 30 minutes outside the city and still come all the way down there for this service! I won't go anywhere else.
The esthecian is so friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. The waxes are fairly painless (she makes it as much as possible) and super quick. Can totally be done on a lunch break.
I can't say enough good things about this place, it's definitely worth a try. I can't wait to try their other services.
I Love Danny
by lovelylourdes
The Body Klinic is such an amazing hidden retreat. I was referred by a friend that gets her hair done by Danny, their new hair stylist. Apparently they just started doing hair and had a beautiful renovation. (I love the crown molding). I was a little nervous because I have very complicated hair and have had several bad experiences in the past. Danny really listed to me. He sat down face to face with me rather then talking to me through a mirror. He spent a good 5-10 minutes asking me about my morning beauty rituals, past services, what things i did and didn't like and I really felt safe and confident when we began. He explained every thing he was doing and took the time to show me my cut as it was being done. He also turned me onto the best conditioner I have ever used. Their product line is all natural which I love. My hair cut and color turned out just as he had said it would and it was the look I had been trying to achieve for years. The color is so natural and I have received so many compliments. Also while there I found the best Brazilian EVER! i never thought it could be so quick and painless. I used to put off the waxer like people put off the dentist but now I get my wax and hair done once a month like clock work. It is small as some reviews have mentioned but now in a negative way at all. It has an incredibly cozy feel and the staff is friendly and welcoming. You feel like you've known them for years. Everyone is so polite and considerate towards each other and you really feel relaxed and removed from the outside world. I've been to so many other places that are chaotic and make you feel rushed or like a second thought to their own conversations. Here you are the main focus and you ARE the conversation. I love that everyone there seems to have a specialty and it really is a one stop shop. I never considered myself a spa type of person but once your here you can't help but want to spend the day. I LOVE DANNY!
- Pros: I have the hair I've always dreamed of
- Cons: I can't take Danny home with me
great wax, great staff
by bkep
I found this place when I first moved here in September and I am glad I did. It was going to be hard to find a place that could compare to where I was coming from and to my surprise it was just as great. My waxes last a long time and whenever I need one I just call and they get me right in for an appointment. I have also been fortunate to have a facial there which was also a great experience. I have heard great things about their massages too!
The staff is always very welcoming and everyone is very kind. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a body treatment.
Amazing massage, rude old people
by josb
I have been coming to this spa regularly for the past two years, not too much but after each exam season to get a massage from Igal and once in a while I'd get an occasional Brazilian to spice things up with my boyfriend.
As I said in the title, the massages are amazing! This guy really knows his stuff and not only makes you feel on seventh heaven but will teach you what to do at home.
That said I have to say that Brazilians are just meh...I mean I don't understand the reviewer below me, since when a genital waxing is a pleasant experience? I have to say tho that their Brazilian is $65 and I also get 10% student discount all the while at Toppers they make you pay $85 for the wax and will never remove hair the way you want it.
But I have to say that the last time I was in the body klinic I had somewhat of a flashback to the lowly spas of our great city, the services were great as usual but when I was done Igal gave me water while I waited to check out and the lady at the front desk (not the usual receptionist but some old redhead) started yelling something in Russian, while the Hair "stylist" jumped on me (and here I do agree with the last reviewer) saying that my hair needs a revamp, what an a$$hple! I just got it done two weeks ago at Pier & Carlo's and he dares to belittle my intellect by saying that I need to learn how to take care of my OWN hair?! Not only that, he had the nerves to actually check my hair by touching me with his greasy fingers....eeeehhh!
P.S: Kudos on the renovations, the place looks amazing!
- Pros: Awesome staff (the younger guys), professional,
- Cons: pushy hair guy, horrible old Russian lady
Overpriced for services
by offandaway
I went here for a bikini wax and eyebrow wax after the great recommendations on this site. It was completely unprofessional (compared to past experiences) -- they didn't put ANY wax remover/cooler on my eyebrows (even nail salons do this!), and only baby powder on after my bikini wax -- even after I mentioned I have sensitive skin! Let's just say I now give firecrotch new meaning. However, the waxer was VERY nice and friendly -- definitely not worth $85 though! Also, the hair stylist implied my hair was ugly and that he could fix it. NOT COOL.
Overall I wasn't impressed, especially considering the price! However I will say they did take my gift certificate without question.
- Pros: mostly friendly staff
- Cons: cramped space, expensive for quality
Great first time wax
by MissFirebug
I went to the Body Klinic after researching different spas and I'm happy I chose it.
On my first visit I had my legs waxed, the lady was very polite and talkative which totally relaxed me.
I loved how it came out, they were smooth for weeks!
I went back for another leg wax and a bikini wax. I had the same woman, and she tried to make me as comfortable as possible. I was extremely nervous about the bikini wax but she made the experience so much better with her talking.
