This has to be the best kept secret location of the best cheesesteak or hoagie in the city of Philadelphia! Forget what you heard about the usual steak shops in Philly go to Dolce on Chestnut Street!

Our office always orders from Dolce and when I am home we order from there as well. Forget the chains of Domino's Pizza and Papa Johns... if you want excellent pizza Dolce Carini has the recipe that has that same great taste every time you order. Service is reliable to our office, warm, and always tastes great. I think the veggie pizza needs a little redesigning but other than that you cannot get a better pizza in town!

Gourmet pizza is a different story, but for plain old fashioned awesome tasting pizza this is the place hands down.

Me and my old roommate would walk in the blistering cold, snow, rain, hail, anything just to have the pizza from here. It's so delicious. 6 out of 5 from me!

We rarely order pizzas. We decided to try a gourmet pizza and the menu said - Buffalo Chicken pizza with basil pesto and chunky tomatoes at their website - Click on partner website link from their dolce-carini website and then click on the full menu link. What we got was some chicken with slobbering amounts of cheese and no sign of tomatoes, basil or olive oil. It was so disgusting that we threw most of it.

This is the worst pizza place ever!!!

  • Cons: Menu over-advertizes and the restaurant under-delivers

Dolce Carini doesn't have the highest caliber of competition since Center City isn't exactly loaded with great pizzerias. That said, Dolce Carini does provide a good slice that's not too pricey and good service. They have a nice variety to the slices available and a slice of just cheese never disappoints (the true test of any good pizza place). The cheese and the sauce are both very good, and the dough isn't bad either. I haven't tried much of their other food but the fries are decent if you like the heavily fried crispy kind. Also you've got to love the Stewart's bottled drinks available, I don't drink a lot of soda but it's hard to say no to the root beer. If you're looking for a slice downtown stop in Dolce Carini, you won't be blown away but you won't be disappointed either.

  • Pros: Good for the area, good service
  • Cons: Doesn't stack up well against the better pizza spots in Philly

Dolce Carini is located on Chestnut Street just a bolc or so down from the old SamEric. My wife discovered this place while working downtown, and I am vey glad she did. We were dedicated Mama Palma customers, but needed a less shmancy place (relatively speaking - someplace with a good cheese or pepperoni pie for less than the Mama Palma rate) when we just wanted to grab a pizza on the way home or on a friday night. Good size, great sauce and tastes great cold the next day. Plus, the staff is very friendly, taking a to go order five minutes before closing, and holding the shop open an extra couple of minutes while I raced down there. Give it a try if you like New York Style Pizza - you won't be disappointed!

  • Pros: Great Sauce, Freindly Staff
  • Cons: Hours a bit short

Dolce Carini is a pizzeria I was introduced to by a co-worker while working at a large professional services firm on Market Street. Every sandwich they make is delicious and fresh. No matter how crowded it may seem to get in the place at lunch, you get your food quickly. They are friendly professionals with the best cheesesteak pizza around. Check it out. You'll go back!!

  • Pros: delicious food, fairly priced, quick service
  • Cons: Seating

Dolce Carini is a wonderful place for pizza. It is a flavorful sensation to your tastebuds, combining just the right amount of tomato sauce, seasonings and spice.

The prices are super reasonable. The ambience consists of a generally fast-paced atmosphere for those who desire a quick, but tasty good bite to eat.

It location in Center City Philadelphia makes it a good partner with the hustle and bustle of city life.

  • Pros: Food, Price, Service
  • Cons: Not romantic, Busy
