The former Houlihan's is still owned by the same parent company, but the atmosphere is more uptown.

Fabulous food matched with outstanding service!

by JetSetChica

Hubby and I went here for our wedding anniversary and were seated next to the window to enjoy the view. The waitress was very attentive and punctual. We ordered the petite filet in butter sauce and it was one of the best we've had. For appetizers we ordered the prosciutto wrapped scallops and spicy seafood gumbo - simply OUTSTANDING. There is also an ample wine list to pair with the dishes and the waitress' wine recommendations were perfect. After dinner, we chatted with the waitress for a good 20 minutes and genuinely enjoyed our first experience at Devon. We will be returning;-)

  • Pros: Delicious food, romantic, chic, great service

Nostalgia

by Seashell1806

Love this place! Great service, smiles and personality. The happy hour is fantastic, try the lobster tail and shrimp scampi. Not sure what all the fuss is about with Parc but I am truly a devoted Devon fan and look forward to sitting and sipping real soon.

  • Pros: Food, service and outdoor seating.
  • Cons: Minimal on street parking.

Great food--Great service

by TommyOfork

We have had some great dinners with friends and clients and always come up big with both the food and the service . Devons has a great staff who make you feel like you are having a personal dining experience every time.

The wait staff (Henry in particular) are very knowledgeable with suggestions and recommendations.

The food is creatively prepared and usually to perfection.

We like to start with the Mussels prepared at the bar -- Delicious!

The Tuna tartar and crabcakes are awesome as well !

All of the fish dishes are fantastic and last time we were in, a couple of the guests picked a beef cut which they raved about.

Always a choice for us -- especially when entertaining

Outstanding!!

by SoccerC444

I don't usually write reviews but after dining here last night I felt compelled to tell everyone how amazing everything was. I actually ordered the filet mignon and it was honestly the BEST piece of meat I have ever eaten. Great wine list, reasonable pricing, you really can't beat it! Even though its a seafood restaurant I highly recommend the filet, the crab cakes were good too!

Great Food, Great Service

by lau1717

I came here with my boyfriend and my parents last week and was very impressed. Our waiter was one of the most professional I have seen and was very attentive. Our food and beverages came out at a good pace, not rushed, but not slow. The crabcake appetizer was excellent and my swordfish was really well prepared. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals and I definitely plan to go back.

  • Pros: Service, Crabcakes
  • Cons: none

Just okay, if that.

by katielevy

I went to Devon after having received a gift card in the mail, and went with a group of 6. We were seated in a dark corner, which was fine, and were promptly greeted. The timing of the meal was good, we didn't feel rushed, aside from the fact that our server talked a mile a minute. Three of the fish entrees were overdone, which was appalling to me, considering Devon is supposed to be a seafood restaurant - chefs should know how to cook sushi-grade tuna. Our server recommended an entree they were out of. Overall, unimpressed.

  • Pros: can accommodate large groups
  • Cons: the food...

Poor experience

by Lucky1215

I am a seafood lover and was totally excited to try this place after reading the good reviews. I went with a group of 4 and the overall sentiment after our meal was... "that was just okay." No "WOW" factor. I think they need to shake things up on the menu and with their chef. I was very disappointed with my tuna... I was expecting a good portion of a great piece of fish and since the asparagus was a regular choice for a side I expected them to be large just-from-the-farmers-market-fresh produce. Instead what came was an okay piece of fish cooked medium well even though I ordered it rare and the sadest looking asaparagus I have ever seen- also WAY overcooked. It seems to me that when you specialize in seafood, and keep the menu simple, you better be able to deliver. This place did not impress. Spend your money somewhere else.

  • Pros: on the park
  • Cons: everything associated with the food

We Shall Return!!!!

by mick3d11

First off, we were seated very promptly. By "We", I mean there was a group of 5 of us that was celebrating my girlfriend's birthday. The atmosphere was considerably spirited and buzzing on a Saturday night, as expected, and it was welcoming to both groups and romantic parties. The cocktail and wine menus were robust and very tantilizing. I do not have enough room to elaborate on each entree dish that was ordered, so I shall talk about the two that my girlfriend and I ordered. But, rest assured that each dish was exquisitely prepared and scrumptious all the same. To start, we ordered the JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES appetizer and it was definitely a melt in your mouth experience. The crab meat was fresh and melted-butter soft & tender. The sauces that came with it were very complementary and gave the dish a swicy (i.e. sweet and spicy) richer flavor. My lady ordered the chilean seabass with mashed potatoes, which she cannot stop talking about. I ordered one of the seasonal preparations of mahi mahi and yes, it was AMAZING!!! from the elegant presentation and fresh preparation to the sophisticated flavors that test each of your taste bud zones.

Although the food was unforgettable I shall not forget about how FABULOUS the SERVICE was. Our waitress was extremely polite, accommodating, level-headed, and down to earth. She was such a great server that we thanked her by giving here a piece of the coldstone creamery cake we brought to the restaurant with us. Need I say that she also got a very generous tip. So, GO FORTH NOW and DINE AT DEVON'S!!!!

  • Pros: Service, Food, Dynamic Atmosphere (for groups and romantic dining)
  • Cons: None

One of the best seafood places in Center City Philadelphia

by corollasman

I went to this restaurant with a group of people from work. The service was great and so was the food. The crab cakes are not made with imitation crab meat. You can actually taste the freshness of real crab meat as it hits your tongue. I tried lobster bisque for the first time and it was delicious. It has a very smooth taste to it, with a touch of spice, but not too much to the point where you'll experience heart burn.

If you are looking for a seafood restaurant in Philly (and trust me, there are quite a few) Devon's Seafood Grill should definitely be on your list. Great place for groups for lunch, and can also be a good place to take a date or dine with the significant other.

  • Pros: Great seafood and excellent service.
  • Cons: If you drive, you will have to pay for parking in a lot or find street parking.

Great Seafood/Service

by Kennyad9

I've been to this establishment several times and each time the food and the service have been great. I especially recommend the Seafood Medley for those seafood lovers out there. The Center City location and the relatively reasonable prices make this a great place. The bar scene can be a little loud.
