User Reviews for The Sporting Club at the Bellevue

I've been a member for about a year now and can't wait to cancel. The gym itself is really good - good equipment (including specialized pilates studio and boxing ring), pool, indoor track, squash/racquetball/basketball courts, staffed with knowledgeable instructors. However, it is really useless for someone who actually works for a living. Although the main floor is open pretty late, there is little variety of classes after work or on the weekends and the gym essentially shuts down on national holidays. Management is horrible and the membership freeze/cancellation rules are extremely inflexible (and they change them around without notification). They also suspended my membership without notificaton for an issue that took 5 min to resolve - of course, the person I needed to get in touch with was on vacation, so I had to wait a week after I found out. Considering the price tag, I'd expect much friendlier custormer service.

Pros: good equipment, some of the instructors are very knowledgeable

Cons: horrible customer service, no class scheduling variety, expensive

The gym is really quite nice, but its management is abysmal. Membership service will not even tell you their rates, not even their base rates, if you call. What kind of business is this?

I have resigned myself to the club, but I am very disappointed with the issues I presented Management - especially Massage Services. I bought 6 massages. Of the six - there were problems with three: 1. Kept waiting 30 minutes 2. Scheduled one therapist, got a different one 3. I missed an appointment due to an ER visit - Policy that client must pay for the missed appointment - AND THEY STILL SCHEDULED THE WRONG THERAPIST. I called as soon as I got home, and the club would not reconsider despite the reason AND their error. I shared with Patty A. my comments. I am still waiting for a final decision one-year later. The Club enforces policies like this when it benefits them, but when they screw up the member still get screwed. Very poor, disinterested, sloppy, and arrogant management. They fail to respond to my membership inquiries, and although I have been a member for 10 years, I have never been asked to participate in a survey. Other than that I love the gym. I get my massages elsewhere now. Robert at the OMNI seems good.

Pros: Nice, clean, bright

Cons: poor, indifferent management, no opportunity for member participation

The Sporting Club is fabulous because no matter what you're interested in, you can find a class, machine, or trainer to suit you. The staff is friendly and proffesional, most of the classes are for all levels and are lead by well trained and approchable people. It is very clean, it's open for about 20 hours a day on weekdays, and there is so much to do and try, you can't get bored. The best part about joining is the fantastic new member package that they give you!

Pros: Fantastic faclities, very clean, wide range of activties

Cons: Fees are fairly high, no group fittness classes on weekday between 3 and 5.

I was initally concerned that the sporting club wouldn't be diverse enough and that I wouldn't feel comfortable if my work out outfit wasn't matching. Luckily my insecurities were false as I feel very comfortable in this very nice facilty. It has a friendly vibe and has great Yoga classes. They have a separate yoga studio which makes you feel like your in a studio instead of a gym. It appears that they have lots of other cool classes that I have not tried. The sauna was recently rebuilt and the steam room and jacuzzi are great. Worth the money....

I have been a member only a month, but I find the staff to be extraordinarily helpful, the facilities are clean, the hours are great and they have wonderful classes for the beginners. The personal training is exceptional. I really like the track - it is easy on my feet and my back. I am too interested in getting the best value than looking for what other members are about.

Pros: Staff, Track, Equipment

Cons: , $ for some classes

I had a membership at this club for several months. Their facilities are increadible. Especially nice were the squash and raquetball courts. My only complaint would be that they use 2 of the 6 squash courts for other activies (not sure what , boxing maybe??), even though all the courts are needed during the after-work period. Locker room, weights, and pool are all exceptional, and the price is very reasonable for what you get.

Pros: Racquet courts, Facilities, Pool

It's such a nice and relaxing facility that I really enjoy going to the gym. It's professional, clean and nicely laid out.
