Good Meal
by funfoods
I have been really wanting to try this place for some time. I was somewhat skeptical of going after reading some of the reviews. But I had a great burger...we are talking top five in my time. The frites were awesome (though Monk's are slightly better). The lobster spring rolls for the app was phenomenal. The service was alittle slow, the place was very loud and I don't know if the air conditioner is broke but inside it was very chaud. But this place is going for the food.
- Pros: Fries Burger Location
- Cons: Loud, small, hot (temperature speaking)
Sub Par Meal at a 4 star price
by joykoy
To be honest I was completely let down by the food. It is ok at best and for a place that charges $16 for a hamburger which they are supposedly famous for. You can get a better burger at a local pub. The presentation was ok and amount was small.
On the upside the service was great and the atmosphere is awesome. If you want good service and great ambiance for your sub par but over priced meal then this place is for you. As for me, I know there are a lot better restaurants that charge a more reasonable price with ample amount of food with great service.
My overall review of this place?..not worth it?can get a better burger at Jonny Rockets.
- Pros: Ambience and Service
- Cons: Food...but isn't this the real reason why we dine out? For Food?
Romantic dinner
by TiffanyLynnY
I love Rouge. Of course, my opinion could be biased because this was my first date with my boyfriend (one which he recreated for Valentine's Day). I have had exceptional food and wonderful service here. Yes it's loud (but really it makes it more intimate to get closer to your date or friends) but I think they have improved that over time. The food has always been good (ok the creme brulee was a little watery but the top was perfection and it was a busy Valentine's day weekend. Rouge always evokes this old Hollywood glamor type feel for me. I expect Humphrey Boghart to sit down next to me. Always a great time! This places will always hold some of my favorite memories.
- Pros: our food has always been wonderful, romantic ambience
- Cons: can be loud but has improved since my first visit there
I agree with the review below

You better look the part if you want to come and enjoy yourself at Rouge. If not, the staff will write you off and figure, (tip wise) that you are a waste of their time. I will never give this place my money ever again. The bartenders act as if they have 'arrived' and only when they feel like it, will they refill your drinks or treat you as a welcomed patron. Go to Parc instead!
- Pros: great location
- Cons: service
TOP NOTCH FRENCH FRIES
by j33
ORDERED THE CHEESEBURGER BECAUSE OF ALL THE REVIEWS. DECENT BUT DID NOT KNOCK ME OUT. THE FRIES ON THE OTHER HAND WERE FANTASTIC. TOP 3 I HAVE EVER HAD. ALSO THE LOCATION IS PERFECT. LOCATED ACROSS FROM RITTENHOUSE SQUARE. SERVICE EXCELLENT. WELL WORTH YOUR TIME.
- Pros: OUTDOOR SEATING, EXCELLENT AREA
- Cons: COULD NOT FIND ONE EXCEPT CHEESEBURGER TOO THICK.
People Watching at it Best with Good Food
by jessicashops

- Pros: great service good food
- Cons: long lines sometimes
Waste of Time - Strike Three
by live2dineout
This was my third time. First time service was a disgrace so I figured I'd try it again (anyone can have a bad day). Server was inattentive and standoffish Second time food was just mediocre. This time the bartenders were slow, the food was cold and the servers had a superiority complex.
Stick with Brasserie Perrier where you always get the best food and service!!
- Pros: Still looking for one.
- Cons: Burger only thing good on the menu
Great Location, Good Food, Horrible Service!
by norak82
Been there twice. First experience was ok. We got an outside seat, which was nice, and ordered tuna tartar, a salad and two mimosas. It took forever for our food to arrive and the server barely checked up on us. I suppose the second time doesn't really count since the hostess said she would call us when our table was ready and NEVER DID! We ended up going to Brasserie Perrier and had a far more enjoyable meal.
- Pros: Great location and great for outdoor dining
- Cons: Crowded, chaotic, and horrible service
Inconsistent
by ipitydafool
In all fairness, I've eaten Rouge a few times. The first time it was fine. The second time, we were placed at a less desirable table near the alley way. We got there early for lunch. We asked if we could sit outside. There were seven open tables in the front. But they told us we couldn't have one of those tables and they took us to the one on the very end. Two minutes later, all of the open tables were seated! Well, we were forgotten about many times when it came to food running, glass refilling. We noticed every table who was seated after us had received their food before us. When we asked the server about our food, she screamed at busser in front of us. I had a bowl of soup to start and they indicated to me that since I had a 'first course' the rest of our order was held up in the kitchen. We noticed plates upon plates being served all around us and no one thought to check on us or even go to the kitchen to see what was taking so long. We ordered two salads for pete's sake! Don't get me wrong, I was a waitress for many years. I am no stranger when it comes to working in a restaurant. After close to 50 minutes (no exaggeration) of sitting there with no entrees ever being served to us, we left. We each went back to work having had no lunch and annoyed at another overrated attempt to eat at Rouge. I called later that day and calmly told the hostess, "We had some disappointing service at lunch today." She totally remembered who we were and sent out a free gift certificate to us. That was nice of her. We returned to use the gift certificate but I wasn't in the mood to be cheery. We arrived at 2:30p.m. - after the lunch rush so we could get some decent service and food. We ended up with the same server as the last time. Lunch was ok - at best. We handed the server the gift certificate stating our free meal because of, "disappointing service at lunch". She took a glance at it, sighed, and said 'thank you, ladies'. We haven't been back since.
- Pros: pretentious 'seen and be seen' restaurant
- Cons: disorganized and OVER RATED
Great Location - Good Lunch
by BucksGuy
Though we had to wait awhile for a table (there were a good number of people waiting as well), it was a Saturday afternoon so it was expected. Located directly across from the park, it should have been a great view but unfortunately our first table was so close to the street, we just kept watching cars buzz by us. We were able to move to a table on the opposite side of the sidewalk which was much better. Sandwiches and the wine choices were very good - though the wine was SUPER expensive. Service was pleasant, but our waitress seemed somewhat disinterested in us - and we are definitely LOW MAINTENANCE diners. Seating is tight, but we actually had an enjoyable conversation with a large table of Canadian tourists seated near us. Definitely not a place to go if you're trying to have a romantic meal or a private conversation.
- Pros: Good Food, Good Location
- Cons: Crowded, Expensive
