Please avoid, it has turned bad
by Debashis
I have been going there for alst 7 years as my work place is close to that and I always encourage everybody to go there but today I went there with my manager to check so that we can host our christmas dinner there. But the service made us feel bad. I will suggest to the owner to take action immediately. The new servers are not up to the mark to serve. Severs should not come and talk to the guests in a bad fashion. It hurts being an Indian. Look at the recent reviews.
Debashis.
- Pros: OK food
- Cons: Bad service
Upscale Restaurant with downscale policies

I went to this restaurant very recently. The food was good and I must say that this is one of the Indian restaurants where me & my wife finished all the food that we ordered without taking even a single piece home.. (we were hungry as well).
At the end, we were surprised to see 18% gratuity on the Bill (we were just 2 in the table and not a party of 5).. But I came to know that as per law, it is for a group of 5 or more, 18% Gratuity was to charged by default. But we were just 2. The waiter told us that since it is beyond 10 PM i.e. closing time, we are charged. But we came to the restaurant by 9.15pm and the board outside says the hours are until 11pm..
The guy wasn't honest in saying why he is charging 18% gratuity. So, it is better to check with the waiter on GRATUITY before even ordering something....
- Pros: Good Food
- Cons: 18% Gratuity even for a table of 2
Bad Food, Bad Service, Uneducated People
by SpecialMember1
This is very unique restaurant. I would not call it Indian. It does not matter what name you give it to their restaurant. It is palace of villagers or palace of poor people. I want to be honest and let you people know that I have gone to this place several times to try and see that if anything changes. All I can say is the management has changed several times but people have gone worse. If you think this is the last Indian restaurant on the earth, I will still tell you don't waste your money and time. God Bless You...
- Pros: If they have any let me know !
- Cons: Bad Service, Bad Reputation, No waiting, Sad Faces
WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! RUINED VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER
by 705Noah
WORST SERVICE EVER!! RUINED VALENTINE'S DAY DINNER! Waited 15 Minutes to be seated for an 8:30 reservation in a half empty restaurant. Then, we waited 25 minutes for a waiter to come over to our table. NEVER HAPPENED. We got up and left the restaurant. We spoke to the manager and told him happened. He said the kitchen was backed up. We then repeated we never had a waited come over to us. He just didn't care. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!!
- Cons: Horrible Service
Very good food

The last review was a bit extreme. I have had indian food all over-including India---and Indian food is usually expensive.
I thought the food was very good and the service very friendly. I usually get it to go. Moving outside the city there is a dearth of good restaurants here--and the lack of heat/spice at most ethnic restaurants is pitiful.
This place is good and will spice it the way you like.
Worst Indian Food - and Highly Over Priced .... Plz AVOID
by mks11
Had friends over from New York - so seeing the review went to Palace of Asia, Ft. Washington - PA.
First of all, the food is not all authentic Indian. It is one of the worst Indian food I have had in USA. The ambiance is good - but food it total opposite of it.
Note for Tourists / Non-Indians: If you want to have authentic Indian food then please do not come here. You might not know the real Indian food taste - and after this experience you would consider Indian food to be bad.
And everything - each and everything is way OVER PRICED. my friend ordered for a glass of Soda (Coke). and they came with such small glass of coke - which you can finish is may be 2-3 sips and mind you NO REFILL.
every dish was way over priced and tasted the worst Indian food i could have had in USA or may be anywhere in the World.
If you have not read the whole review - in Short/Summary/Final word from my side :
"NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED"
- Pros: Only and Only Ambience
- Cons: Worst Indian Food , Very bad Service, Very Very Expensive (and not worth the value paid)
New owner/management, Better food, Better service
by mlmeyers
I have always enjoyed Indian cuisine. I have been to the restaurant many times. However, I have not been to the restaurant in over a year because I felt the quality of food and service was lacking. When I heard the restaurant was under new ownership/management I thought I would give the restaurant another try. I am happy I did. The service was great and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere was great. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves. I encourage those of you who were disappointed in the past to give them another try.
- Pros: Great service
Excellent Malai Kabob and Bindi
by mlg1108
Those were just two favorites among many. I have been an Indain food lover for a few years now, and Palace of Asia has become my favorite spot to satisfy my cravings. The first time I walked in I was amazed at the beauty of the place. Most other Indain restaurants I have visited had very little imagination with the decor. The menu is very extensive...a little surprised to see beef curry! Our service was very good even though the restaurant was very busy. Every time I go back I try something different and have never been disappointed.
- Pros: Ambience, attentive service
Suburban Mediocrity Meets Indian
by amusebuche
Wanted to love it but just couldn't because the food isn't that good. Suburbanites love it because they have no idea what good Indian tastes like.
- Pros: Close to NW Philadelphia and Burbs
- Cons: The Food
Luxurious, Elegant, and Sumptuous!
by m_ydv
The first thing that strikes you about this place is the elegance: fountain at the door, marbled entrance, cozy fireplace in the dining room, dim romantic lighting. You can get lost in the details of this place. It is a place to really go out and enjoy the luxury of the place. We had a gorgeous night having dinner at this place.
The next thing that strikes you is the crowd and energy-- it's popular! During the day, the lunch buffet draws crowds from miles, people swearing by the taste of the food. There is not a dull moment-- it is a happy place for sure. But the dining room is so large and spacious? the crowds can hardly be noticed?in the candlelight, it is the perfect setting for cozy romantic dining.
And then the most striking thing is the food, but of course. Creamy, rich, elegant, yet never heavy-- this is the food that dreams are made of. I can't pick one thing.. everything on their item tastes better than the next. I like the way they use fresh herbs, in addition to the traditional Indian spices. The food is.......... aaahhh.. I can get lost describing the food?.
The service is professional and polite. I'm surprised by some reviewers indicating the service is snobby. I found the service just to my liking: low key, simple and polite. I suppose some can mis-understand that as snobby.. but I don't like overbearing happy clown service.
All in all, my friend and I had a great time at this place: good place, ambiance, service.. and spectacular food. But perfection keeps getting better.. they have other newer branches which are also grand: in fact, this is not even my favorite branch. My most favorite branch is the new Palace of Asia by Cherry Hill/Cooper River, which has the same spectacular food but is hidden off by the River. So it keeps getting better and better. :)
- Pros: Luxury Indian Cusine- pure gourmet, Elegant Place and Crowds
- Cons: Is very popular, always filled.. if you like quieter locations with the same cuisine, try their other branches (ie. Cherry Hill , Delaware)
