one of the best in philly

by lanierwill

the meats are outstanding, such a large choice. You are guaranteed to be full before you run out of selections.

salad bar is fresh and exotic. My wife and i have been to many cities including nyc to eat and chima is up to par.

Lack of support and class in philly will ultimately ruin it as this restaurant is of world class status in a working class city.

So try it while it lasts. morimoto and chima neck and neck

again this is world class dining so prices reflect that, please dont be typical philly and complain about the price, than try to attribute your complaints to the food.

philly people, if you cant afford it no matter how good the food is you will be pissed.Dont come go to red lobster.

  • Pros: exellent food, decor, service,no wait

Delicious food, great atmosphere

by dhelias

Went here for restaurant week with my boyfriend and we couldn't have been happier. The service was great - our waitress came over almost every 5 minutes to see if we needed anything. The salad bar was delicious, as were the sides they brought out to us (especially the mashed potatoes and fried bananas). The gauchos walked around frequently with the delicious meat selection, all of which was wonderful. By the end I realized I'd forgotten to try the lamb, so our waitress sent one of the gauchos over to me specially so I could have some. At one point my boyfriend was playing with his yes/no coin and one of the gauchos stopped to see if he was going to flip it back over to "yes." Overall a great meal with a great atmosphere. I will definitely be going back.

Fabulous!

by jericohen

I am very glad that I do not pay attention to reviews; I always like to try places myself. So, I decided to go with my husband and friends to Chima for Restaurant Week! Words cannot describe how wonderful our experience was. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional! The hostess, the bartenders, our waiter and the gauchos were friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was beyond belief!!! The salad bar offered a wide variety; from fresh veggies to calami and cheeses. The meats were prepared perfectly and you could get your choice of temperature as well. I will go back again, even at regular prices the deal is amazing! Try Happy Hour too - half price drinks and appetizers.

  • Pros: Exceptional service, delicious food, great drinks

Go to Chima for the service, salad bar, and the MEAT! It is FABULOUS!

by krondeau

My friends and I are in our mid-40s+, and enjoy both casual and fine dining in Philadelphia. We are hearty eaters who enjoy well-prepared food. In addition, my father was in the meat business for his entire career, so I feel that I can safely say to the folks of Philadelphia -- Chima is fabulous! There are three things that made our experience at Chima so exceptional:

1) The service was excellent -- between the waiters refilling our side dishes to the gauchos who served the meats, we really felt like we were special. Drinks were quickly refilled, plates removed, etc.

2) The salad bar was remarkable -- I had heard that these places offered big salad bars, and I always felt that it would be a waste of appetite to fill any of it with salad -- but Chima's salad bar had so many fine offerings that even I got a plateful. From the fresh mozzarella, roasted asparagus, shrimp salad, roasted peppers, tons of cheeses, (oh yeah, and there was lettuce too) -- all of us sampled the diverse offerings and were very impressed with the freshness and quality.

3) The meat!!! Note to diners -- if you take the very outer piece of a roasted meat it is going to have spices on it like salt, pepper, etc. That is how you are SUPPOSED to cook meat. If you don't like those flavors, have some from deeper in the meat, or go to McDonalds. I consider myself very knowledgeable about meat and how to prepare it. Chima's meats were fabulous. The leg of lamb had a true rich lamb flavor, the filet mignon was nicely aged and as tender as butter, the regular sirloin (which I almost passed on because it is so common) was PERFECT, the rib-eye was to die for...I could go on, but the drool is starting to reach my computer keyboard!

My friends and I went to Chima during Restaurant Week, but we all agreed that we will DEFINITELY be back for another visit soon. PS - I do not work for Chima or anyone associated with them -- I truly loved the meal and the dining experience Chima offered us.

  • Pros: Great service, salad bar, and MEAT! Lovely dining room, great bar with Happy Hour prices

Ubsurd!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever had to sign a contract in order to enjoy the food at a restuarant? Chima sends "paper work" to your email address that you must sign and return . The contract limits your party to 2 hours. After your alotted time(which starts to tick away from the moment of your reservation, heaven forbid any member in your party is running late) you are billed per minute (up to $25.00) for how long you stay to enjoy your meal. My reservation was for a birthday party. We had a large group (about 16 people) and were celebrating and enjoying a night out on the town. After spending $50.00 per person just on food, not to mention our hefty bar bill, I found it ludicrous to limit our time. I have been in the restuarant business for 15 years. Never in any place that I have worked, did we rush out a party that was spending alot of money. Who wants to check thier watch throughout dinner?? What ever happened to relaxing with coffee, dessert and after-dinner drinks?? FoGo do Chao is the way to go!!!

are you serious????

by sdot1

Take a piece of great meat fresh from the butcher and soak it in the Atlantic Ocean for about 24 hours...then throw some more seasoning salt on top of it and then cook it for 40 minutes...high...and there you go!!! if that's what you like, then chima is the place for you!

  • Pros: the servers did try to please...
  • Cons: the food, the drinks...and oh yeah...the PRICE!

A new take on the Brazilian rodizio experience opens on the Parkway.

by Contributor

In Short
A modern setting for feasting on succulent cuts of sirloin, sausage, ribs, filet, flank steak and even salmon and swordfish sets up shop on the Parkway, offering Center City a second locale for this sort of South American feasting. A fairly expansive salad bar offers bounteous sides of greens, soups and fresh breads to accompany your meat.
