Upon entering this spaciously elegant yet almost imperceptibly tawdry New Orleans dining establishment, a guest's eyes are immediately swept off their feet by a grandiose, centrally positioned staircase that evokes nostalgia for the belle époque estates of yore, or perhaps, instead, The House of the Rising Sun. No longer helmed by the somewhat famous restaurateur John Mims, the lounge and restaurant continues to operate under his former partner's ownership, with different management and the original chef, he changes his menu of authentic Cajun and Creole specialties by the week. Eating and drinking here is, like a visit to New Orleans, always an experience, with eclectic people to watch and often a surprise waiting just at the top of the stairs.
