Expectations not met!

I am a lover of food! Of flavor! Especially mexican food; and I have to say the BEST thing I had at the Mexican Post tonight was the Modelo Especial and the salsa :-/ My mom bought my a gift cert for dinner so we went after Christmas shopping today; a long day and, well, we were kinda, no really, let down. The service was GREAT! Fast! Pleasant! But food was...well, eh. We had to dump the salsa into the Queso to "spice" it up. My seafood salad was SO salty I couldn't eat it and had to send it back. I ordered an a la carte enchilada and it pretty much tasted like.......nothing. Furthermore, my mom's Chicken Chimmichanga was, well, JUST CHICKEN; there was no sauce or seasoning or ANYTHING else inside and very liitle sauce outside.....good thing she had salsa and queso to dump on top. I brought home a veggie burrito for my husnad. He liked the beans and rice, but agreed that the main item, the burrito, needed some, any, flavor, other than hot (which I ordered). My advice.....go to La Esperanza in Lindenwold, NJ or whichever "real" mexican restaurant you have near you:(
- Pros: Service, Ambiance
- Cons: Flavor
It's ok

The inside is trendy and it's always great to have the option of an outside patio. I've eaten there twice and will say that the food was only mediocre. Not bad, just not great.
- Pros: Outside patio
- Cons: Not a memorable meal
Best place to drink and grab some food North of Market Street....

I have visited this location many a times. Matter of fact, I have been visiting Old City Mexican Post since 17 years. There are many reviews written about both these locations. My two cents......
Old City - Been in the city for many years - Almost 20. You will see many of the same employees (Unheard of in the food service industry. - Almost makes me feel like I am in Boston at CHEERS :). They have good food, great drinks and above average customer service. All for an extremely affordable price. Atmosphere is rustic and reminds you of Mexico.
Love Park - Very upscale for a Mexican Post. Great location and ambience. Very young HIP crowd. Great Drinks and good food that is reasonably priced. The out door patio is probably one of the largest in the city. Can fit a party of 100 easily. The bar is unreal. They carry over a 100 Tequilas. If you are really looking for great Mexican food, I would recommend that you go to Tequilas. If you are looking for good food, and a great after hour place, Mexican Post is it. If you live in Center City like I do, I strongly recommend you to visit places like Tir Na Nog or Public House and compare their drink prices with Mexican Post. My beer tastes the same no matter where I buy it...... I strongly recommend this place.
- Pros: Great Bar, Ambience, Crowd, Value for Money
- Cons: They don't carry enough vairety of Wine. Service is average.
Bar is cool, thats about it

Big mexican food fan, unfortunately have yet to have a good meal here. If you like the Mexican Post, make sure to eat at the Front and Chestnut Street location where they pay more attention to you and your food. Last time I ate here, my girlfriend's enchilada was watered down and tasted as if it had just come out of the microwave. The service has been inconsistent, although last time they were very apologetic after the watered down enchilada. The bar scene is pretty neat though, especially on a warm day where you can sit on the patio. However, if you are a fan of mexican food, there are better places out there.
- Pros: Good bar scene, nice patio
- Cons: Food
Lots of food

I ordered the tamales with chicken and boy was I stuffed when I left! They were ok... a little dry for my taste. Nice decor though...
