Bad atmosphere, bad management
by Franklin100
This place has fallen apart. Service is OK, but food is bad and the atmosphere gets crowded and managers yell at people.
We were there last night and they turned half the bar into a Wisconsin college football bar during a Phillies Playoff game! When some guys rightly complained to keep the TVs on the Phils, the male manager cursed at them in front of the entire bar. Awful.
There are plenty of places to watch sports in Philly. Go to a place that puts on the local game and doesn't have angry managers screaming at you.
- Pros: Service is OK
- Cons: Management, don't show local sports games
Nice spot, yet that is where it all ends.

CCRES was on the money. The food here has gone down hill as well as the service. So now that it is a place for bigots as well I won't be going back.
- Pros: tv's
- Cons: overpriced everything
disappointing

I decided to give Barristers a try and was really looking forward it. My buddy and I sat at the bar and ordered the large nachos and two beers. The nachos came....lame! Who still uses cheez wiz? They were obviously using a bargain brand chips and dumped the cheese on top. The plate was cold and so were the chips. Can't anyone make good nachos in this city. The bartender was busy with couple of drunk patrons. He had a quick fuse and threw them out. After they left, he called them faggotts! Come on, this is 2008 in Philadelphia not Alabama. Couldn't he find another way to deal with his frustration without offending everyone sitting at the bar. I asked about the dart board, but it is placed in such a spot that is inconvenient to play. There are tables in the way and people would have to be moved to play a game. Besides having bad food and an offensive atmosphere, Barristers looks like it could have potential. Maybe another night, another time. Can't say I will give it another try for a little while.
great neighborhood spot

If you live in Philly, and have not yet been to barristers, you are missing out. Barristers is a sports bar, that is a great time for both the sports and non-sports fans (me)! with all of the stuffy/obnoxious bars in the city, I find Barristers to be a break from the norm (and a breath of fresh air). The staff is super friendly (they actually know their customers names), the environment upbeat, and the food is by far the best bar food in the city (definitely try the chix cheese steak). Without fail, I always have enjoyable evenings at Barristers. Definitely an A+++
A Great Bar For Everyone!!
by itsabouttime
Long overdue for this town/Neighborhood. An elegant yet casually fun sports themed bar. Great flat screen tv's and two beautiful floors. Finally a place where you can hang out in Rittenhouse Square and not worry about kiddies or wannabees. Amazing bar food and great beer, alcohol selection with great specials all the time. Cool, fun staff and good looking crowds. Jukeboxes, darts and even a great pool table. One stop shopping for Center City fun! Hooray!!!
- Pros: Like Being at Cheers In Rittenhouse Square
- Cons: A little off the main drag but the discovery is well worth the search!
Cool Staff, Good Food, Classy "Rittenhouse Crowd"

Where the beautiful people go to watch a game. Barristers is a classy version of a sports bar. The first departure from your traditional sports bar is the great food...one of the best NY Strips in the city. Even though they show any game you want to see, the real draw is the fun crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. If you haven't been, you should check this place out.
- Pros: Hot Chicks, Great Beer Selection
- Cons: No Roof Deck for Summer Boozing
A place where everybody knows your name.....

Since opening just over a year ago I can safely say that this is the friendliest neighborhood bar in Philly. Great TV's for sports, nice selection of brew, really good food and kick-ass service. Chef Derek makes a mean everything. Plus, for hockey fans, they have the NHL Center Ice package, and if you ask they'll hook you up with your game. I go to lots and lots of bars, and I've lived all over the country, and Barristers ranks up there with my favs. Good place for Phillies games during baseball season, too.
- Pros: people and the food
- Cons: the labbatt blue was too expensive
The hippest spot in Rittenhouse
by boss75
This is one of my favorite hang out spots in Rittenhouse. Great drinks and Great food make it a winning combo. Ask for King Los, he'll take good care of you. The female bartenders and servers are hot as well.
- Pros: Friendly staff, always a fun time.
