A couple of months ago I was in a really dark place and needed to pick myself up, so some college friends planned to drive up from DC to take me out. I was looking rather scruffy at the time and decided to get a professional shave at 2BGroomed. Now, unlike some guys who regularly get a shave at the barbershop, I almost always do it myself at home on the cheap. Plus I'm picky about who I'm going to allow to put a razor to my face. Like many guys, I've had a few bad experiences in the past. Well, I have to tell you that the shave was an amazing experience. I felt and looked like a million bucks afterwards. My friends all commented on how great my clean shave looked. My face was as smooth as a baby's bottom and probably had not been that smooth in years. I would highly recommend any guy who wants to treat himself to a shave at 2BGroomed. You won't be sorry!!!

I only get my haircut by barbers and have been coming to 2B groomed since moving to Center City 4 years ago. Jamal is an impressive young entrepreneur who takes a relationship-driven approach to client service - he truly wants to EARN your business. He is a master of his craft and you can tell that his goal is not just to deliver a great haircut but to give his customers an entire grooming experience. Jamal and his team are very friendly and welcoming. His intimate shop is both hip and sophisticated; no detail is left to chance. What's more, Jamal is never satisfied with the status quo. He is constantly improving the saloon and enhancing his service offering. I highly recommend 2B Groomed.
Pros: The best haircuts, atmosphere, people
Cons: As with all quality services in demand, it's best to call ahead and make an appointment; also not open late weekday evenings

I had never had a straight-edge razor shave before and I was curious because I heard so many people rave about it. I also needed a haircut so I searched Philadelphia for barbershops that still shave, and I came across this one. Jahmal has a good sense for cutting hair and it very attentive to detail. I was very satisfied with the haircut. However, the shave was disastrous. I get the same results with my electric razor at home except with less cuts. The cuts from a straight edge razor sting a lot, and I had one on my chin, and several irritated areas around my neck. I paid $40 for that too!! I will not be heading over there for a shave again.
Pros: Good haircut, nice shop
Cons: Bad shave

Just got back from my first cut at 2BGroomed - in a word, great. Very relaxing and professional atmosphere. Nice people and no pressure. My hair is difficult to cut and they did a great job. Very happy with how it looks. Also like the jazz music instead of Power99 - nice touch. Didn't take advantage of the special services (shave, etc) but plan to soon. Highly recommended.
Pros: People, atmosphere, location, convenience, price

I started going to 2 B Groomed close to 2 years ago and it's a decision that I haven't regretted. It's a great shop with a wondeful ambience and that's not to mention the top of the line service that's provided by Jahmal and his staff. They really give great.personalized service and they are definitely one of Philly's hidden gems. I can see why he won " Best of Philly " in the Philadelphia Magazine two years ago.
Pros: ambience, staff, good service, total professionalism.
Cons: none

I went in for a shave and face was completely cut up! My face actually has cuts, and I'm sure that they will not heal for a week! Can't speak for the quality of the haircut, but stay far away from the straight-edge shave! They also offer a shave with a "three-blade razor", which is a unique way of saying "Gillette Sensor". A different person does this, I believe. The people, though, were nice, and they have a clean shop.
Pros: Nice, courteous staff; clean environment; generally well kept shop
Cons: Prices were a bit high; no expertise in giving a man's shave

For years I've always cut my own hair. I was very nervous about having another person cut and style my hair. I had heard from a few people in the neighborhood that 2B Groomed was a great place. I was extremely impressed with the service I had gotten from Jamal. He was very professional and friendly. He was very detailed oriented. I was very happy with my haircut and coming from a person who did his own hair for over 10 years that says alot! I refer my friends to him as well and I plan on having Jamal cut my hair from now on. I wish i knew about this site sooner. Jamal has been cutting my hair since November 2006. Just came back from getting my haircut there today. I highly recommed him.

My hair has been difficult to cut all my life so I appreciate a good barber. The owner was meticulous and nailed the cut the very first time I saw him just from a few quick instructions. Usually, I need to let my haircut grow out for a few days to be happy, but I was looking good the minute he put down his shears.
Pros: Excellent job. Classy, intimate atmosphere
Cons: Not cheap, but few good things are. Plus I get my hair cut every 6-8 weeks

I just got back from my first haircut at 2B (stylist: Mary) and I'm very pleased. I called today and got in 1/2 hour later. The service was very warm and attitude-free. This is a small, neighborhood place that's classier than your typical barber shop but not as fancy as your typical salon (which is fine by me!) Mary was very meticulous and unrushed, which is rare these days. A shampoo rinse was included in the price ($25; $22 for 1st time customers) and it was more than just a quick scrub down--she incorporated a little temple massage which was a nice and much-needed treat. The cut turned out great and just how I wanted it. She asked for feedback and made a change I recommended in a friendly manner. The owner was a nice guy too. Apparently they also do straight-edge razor shaving, which I can't wait to try, and body waxing. I'm definitely going to 2B next time!
Pros: Detail-oriented, great cut, decent price
Cons: Just 2 chairs, so phone ahead
