ITALIAN DONE RIGHT
by nbrains2
Salads big enough to share; soul-satisfying entrees; cannolis filled to order. Bring your own wine and enjoy the attention Frankie gives to all. A little loud and crowded on the weekends, but a wonderful place for a weeknight treat.
- Pros: Wonderful food
- Cons: Tables close together; loud on the weekends.
Rip Off

Service poor yet 20 percent plus gratuity was added to bill. Bread was burned, portions small, food average--nothing special, noisy, table wobbled, the very small iced tea never refilled. Waiter refused us a separate check before we even ordered. Now we know why.
- Pros: none
- Cons: service
decent enough food, but waitress very rude

went here for dinner last night w/another couple who had been here before and really liked it. it's not a fancy place AT ALL but is a little cuter inside than the strip mall exterior would have you think. well, first thing, my chair is rocking when I sit down and feels like it's going to fall to pieces underneath me. the waitress sees me switching it and came over and grabbed the chair and touched it and basically said there was nothing wrong w/it, implying that it's all me. Uh, OK. Then I go to order and ask her about the size of the salads. She said they were pretty small, so I decide to order a salad and an appetizer portion of the calamari in red sauce. She acts like this is the first time she has ever encountered anyone ordering like this and says Oh we can't serve that as an entree. And I'm like OK, well bring it in whatever order you can. I thought she was going to refuse to serve me! Well, the beet salad was yummy and the calamari was tender, and the sauce tasty and well-seasoned (fra diavalo, with a good amount of kick, not to mention garlic). But, as she is bringing the salad, a dinner companion says to me That salad isnt so small... And I agree that it looks good. The waitress says something cranky and rude about how she thinks it's small and then adds Well, I guess you're just not Italian. It was all I could do to not get up and follow her to give her a piece of my mind! Not Italian. Like my gramma didnt handmake her own pasta in one of those crank machines you clamp onto the side of the kitchen table! So the food was pretty good for a little place like this, but I don't think I'd suffer this waitress again. She did a pretty good job of trying to ruin my dinner experience.
Used to love this place - will never go back

I used to go to Fellini's on a monthly basis - I will never go there again and will inform my friends that same. Two women were turned away with 3 empty tables - not to be filled until 7pm at 6:15. The counter was offered. I would think it would be easier to turn over a table then to lose loyal customers. I guess Frankie's napoleon complex caught up with him. Its a shame.
Great BYOB on the Main Line, wonderful food, and comfortable surroundings. Make a reservation!

It is always great! Frankie makes you feel comfortable the minute you walk in the door and the food is exquisite. Make sure you check out his creations, just wonderful! As you can see, I am a great fan and would recommend it to anyone wanting a wonderful BYOB on the Main Line.
Huge portions at reasonable prices make this Italian BYOB a hugely popular dining spot.

In Short
The carpets are plain, plaster walls are adorned with random paintings and bric-a-brac, but the open kitchen exudes wonderful smells of olive oil and oregano. Start your meal with a mountainous salad of arugula and shellfish: Fellini's "surprise" lends itself to sharing. Any pasta dish should satisfy: basic but tasty spaghetti Bolognese, penne with tomatoes, broccoli and chicken. For dessert, stick with the gelato--chocolate or coffee--topped with whipped cream and a paper umbrella.
