Questionable business practices
by ThatChicky
A couple of weeks ago I brought a bunch of things in to sell. Now I would classify my items as classic essentials and more on the preppy side. They were all in great condition, in season, name brand and several things were purchased within the past 2 months. But none of it was stand out trendy/edgy.
Buffalo Exchange definitely has a more hipster edgy vibe so I when they only offered to by only one of my items because "the rest weren't fiting with current trends" I chalked it up to my clothes being too preppy/classic and not edgy enough.
The buyer than offered to take the items she wasn't purchasing and donate them to charity for me. I was glad to clean out my closet and would have donated the remaining items anyway, so I agreed and she put them in a huge bin they had behind the register. I didn't receive any receipt to use to deduct the donation on my tax return.
BUT when I went back this week to TRY and find something there that I would actually wear to use my store credit on I SAW ATLEAST THREE OF THE ITEMS I LET HER DONATE TO CHARITY FOR SALE!
I AM APPALLED that these people would steal from people under the pretense that they are pretending to donate the items to charity!
IF YOU GO THERE DO NOT LET THEM SCAM YOU LIKE THIS, you should take anything they won't purchase and donate them to charity directly on your own (a lot of charities will come and pick them up directly from your doorstep). Do not let them donate the items for you, because this is really a scam for them to get additional items from you without paying for them!
Inexperienced Buyers

I too have consigned here before and would agree that many of the buyers are inexperienced and have questionable ideas about what is current and fashionable. When i questioned why a Juicy Couture shirt was not accepted she said "we only take recent fashions within 6mo's'. When I told her I just bought it 2 months ago she had a dumbfounded look on her face and didn't respond. I no longer consign here as I've had more than one unfavorable experience with the buyers including the so-called manager.
- Pros: variety of brands
- Cons: inexperienced buyers, no parking, overpriced merchandise
Buyer beware..poor buyers!

When my daughter took a group of good clothes (Banana Republic, Sevens, other good brands) in current styles to this shop to consign them, out of all the great clothes they purchased one thing -- a pair of Target jeans. What's that about? Beware of shoddy stuff if this is what they considered they could sell out of all the items she showed them!
- Pros: Daughter reports they used to have good brands
- Cons: Buyers without an eye for quality
Can't Beat It

If you don't mind buying second hand then you should definately come here. There are great finds for both men and women: Charles Davis, Bebe, Urban Outfitters to name a few. Selling or exchanging is a little frustrating because they are only looking for certain brands, sizes, seasons and stlyes at certain times. So just because you saw something similar in the store doesn't mean they are buying it now.
- Pros: Buying
- Cons: Selling
