Dirty Rude Dirty Rude
by luvs2eatout221
Do not go here!!! There are so many other much better Hookah bars in the city now. I saw a giant Cockroach on the wall and when I told the waitress she was so rude. My drink tasted like crap and our hookah tasted like charcoal. Plus the owner ignores you, doesn't matter how often you patronize. The crowd is ugly Eurotrash. THIS PLACE SUCKS.
- Cons: Dirty Rude Dirty Rude

I wanted to go to a place with good middle-eastern food and hookah for my birthday. After reading the mixed reviews on here, I was a little nervous about taking a chance on Byblos. But I am here to tell you we were very pleasantly surprised. Six of us went out and none of us had been there before. Most of the people in our party had never had middle-eastern food before and no one except my husband and I had done hookah before. So I really didn't know if they would like the place or not. But everyone loved it! Everyone loved their meals and everyone tried the hookah and loved it. The music and ambiance were fantastic. It definitely has a very unique vibe. You have the middle-eastern cuisine, combined with a chic, urban atmosphere and great music, all while still maintaing a feeling of some intimacy with your party. We will definitely be going back. Don't be scared off by the bad reviews. I almost was and I'm glad I took a chance on it.
- Pros: great ambiance, great food, great music, great hookah
- Cons: bottles of wine are very pricey!
The owner of Byblos should go to customer service school
by HappyPA
We walked into Byblos with some out of town guests and were seated by the waitress. We ordered drinks and appetizers, they came, but 2 min later the waitress told us we had to move our seats immediately. We tried to be accommodating but they tried to squeeze 6 of us into a 4 person booth and crammed 2 chairs in the aisle- which completely blocked the waiters trying to get from one table to the next and hence we had to stand up every few minutes to let them pass. We decided it was too much, asked for the check so that we could move on. The owner then screamed, make them pay for everything (which I think the check for right?) and proceeded to call my girlfriend b*tch and slu t while she paid. Needless to say I am a little confused why the owner reacted so horribly to us when the mistakes were theirs and we tried to make the best of it...besides, it is not like we were taking up a table, there were plenty of empty tables (wonder why!). The owner then started screaming at his waitress who looked very scared. He is abusive and should not be in the business of customer service. Oh, and I hope that he trips, fall on his face, and breaks his nose.
- Pros: never experienced any
- Cons: The owner
RUDE SECURITY

I had a truly amazing night until closing. They served us until literally just before 2 am and then things changed. My 9 dollar drink was literally taken from my hand at 2:03 am after spending several hundred dollars in the bar. The manager was equally unfriendly and wouldn't even let us go to the restroom after 2:00am. Even after complaining to the Philly police they grudgingly let us back in. We were literally made fun of in the bar upon reentry. I have never been treated so poorly in a bar. I would honestly avoid this bar at all costs if you want to have a good night in Philly. My group was truly appalled at the treatment.
- Pros: Great DJ
- Cons: TRULY AWFUL SECURITY STAFF
By far the Best homemade Food, excellent value for the money

I have been to the place several times for lunch and a few times for dinner. The service was always good and personable; the staff was very attentive to our needs.
The food is always totally awesome – never failed me once! Their homemade hummus is out of this world!
Very good vine selections and perfect Bloody Mary and Seabreeze. I always recommend this place to all my friends.
- Pros: Best homemade Food, excellent value for the money
- Cons: parking situation is treacherous
Mmmm!

Just hosted a work party at Byblos this weekend, staff was excellant, food was even better! Reservation was not a problem. I emailed, they responded and the party was booked!
Food was amazing!

The food here was delicious, I wasn't sure what to try, but the knowledgable waitress recommended the perfect dish. All of my guests loved their meals and they had tons of mixed drinks to go with the meals. Great place, check it out!
Love this place!

I've met the owner many times, and he has never been anything but polite. He has offered me drinks in the past while we converse.. how many clubs/bars do that?! The post about the owner being anti-semitic is not only inaccurate, but offensive. Also, whoever said that he's there every night, and considers that a bad thing.. what planet are you from? Isn't the owner being at his establishment to ensure smooth running and happy customers a GOOD thing?! This place has excellant food, service, hookah, and though it gets crowded, that should just tell you what an excellant establishment this is. Oh yea, and the mixed drinks there, are NOT $20 a piece. They are comparably priced, some even lower, to other clubs in the area. I recommend checking Byblos out. Especially for Free hookah on Thursdays at 10pm.
- Pros: Great Staff, food, atmosphere, hookah
- Cons: can get crowded
What's with all the hate?

I don't know the owner on any personal level so I can't say if he is anti-Semetic, but I'm from India and I've gone to eat at this place and Cedar's many times. Food is great and staff have been nothing but respectful. Few times I have talked to the owner and his brothers, they have been kind; even offering me a free drink once for recommending a laptop computer. Went here on a date last Saturday night and had another good time. Place gets crowded to be sure, put it is not the type of place that people come to looking for trouble. You can dance, drink, and have a good time. Had a great conversation with a Cambodian kid about his first trip back to his home country. He and his friend offered me puffs on their hookah. Can't say I've been to many places in this city where you would see hospitality like that.
