i have been here a handful of times and due to this 1 unforgivable experience i will NEVER go back, nor recommend this place to anyone. it was my sister's bday but also a congrats party on the purchase of her first home. we wanted to take her out on a night out on the town. too bad it started off with a TERRIBLE note! the table we were given was right next to the dj, it was so loud in there that i couldnt hear the person next to me! the furniture is so big and bulky that it leaves no room for walking. needless to say that the servers were so cranky to have to work in an freakin zoo of a restaurant. we had finished our meals but were waiting on some drinks and the bday cake to come out. during that time a few of us went outside for a smoke break. another server with curly dirty blonde hair, who was not our server, came over to our table and asked my sister if we were leaving becuz they had another group of ppl waiting for their table rsvp. my sister said no and stated that her asking was very rude. the server came back about 5 mins later and started to "apologize" to my sister. her apology looked and sounded more like an initiation to start a fight. it was very shocking to go to a place, where you expect decent service but end up with ppl screaming at you with the intent to kick you out of your table. to make a long story short: #1... loud & crowded, #2 they double booked a table and tried to kicked us out, #3 server almost started a fist fight with clientele
Pros: hookah
Cons: everything else.. esp the blond with the fro

I visited this place for the first time a couple of weeks back on a recommendation from a co-worker. We were greeted by two large bouncers who poccessed the social skills of a cave man. Then we went inside. There were two odd looking women working the club. They both looked me and my girlfriend in the face and never said a work. So we proceeded past them and tried to seat ourselves. The place was crowded, noisy, and just wierd. There were no space at the bar, no tables available, no one offered to helped us. So we ended up just walking out.

I don't understand the negative reviews on here. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly-- I have been there with many friends for celebrations, etc., ordered many of the dishes, even made substitutions, and it has always been excellent, with a wonderful ambiance. I have not been there later at night for the dancing, which seems to be where some people's issues arise, but for the food alone, it is one of the best around!
Pros: wonderful varied menu, excellent ambiance, hookah if you want it
Cons: N/A

I went last night and agree with all of the reviews above. I had made reservations but still had to wait 30 minutes. The bouncer was checking IDs for some people and wasn't checking for some...and was very rude when it took someone in my group to an extra minute to locate her id. The prices in this place does not justify the atmosphere, service, music ...the music was good (more trance , clu music) but so loud that i am having hearing problems (just kidding...but you get the point)....i am never going back again to that place.....
Pros: Hukkas were good
Cons: Everything else

The owner of this place is by far the rudest human being you will ever come in contact with. Ever. The food was cold and the service was ridiculously bad. Go somewhere else.

I couldn't agree with the previous reviews more. Don't be lured into this seemingly fun place by the loud music and hookahs...my experience at Byblos left me astounded by the unbelievably poor service. My party ordered drinks and appetizers right away but the drinks took so long to get to the table that we had already finished all the appetizers by that time. The food is completely unimpressive and the space was cramped and noisy. The wait staff seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed but in the end I just felt bad for them because they were obviously working for a real tyrant of an owner. We actually witnessed this man argue aggressively and loudly with other patrons - I swear I've never seen anything so unprofessional in 30 years of dining out. I'm not giving my business and money to a man like that, and you shouldn't either.

The food, wine, and atmosphere at Byblos are all unremarkable. What you will find here like no other place, is an owner who doesn't understand customer service and goes out of his way to make his employees and customers lives miserable. Tell all of your friends to walk past this one!
Pros: can't think of a single one
Cons: owner

If you want to be treated poorly by a rude, sleazy, chauvanistic owner, then go for it. The guy has no tact and is a total a-hole. i feel bad for the staff, particularly the waitresses. aside from the pr!ck, the music was blaring to the point that you had to shout, the appetizers were not very good, and place is cramped. its really nothing special , so spare yourself the grief and avoid this place like the plague.
Cons: owner, attitude, space
