Not so nice.
by Seashell1806
Very low quality meat served at this joint, as well as rude service, perhaps the owner is all about himself and not about satisfying the customer. Servers should be trained to be professional, serve with a smile and lose the attitude. The prices are high for the food quality and service. Tip-be careful about ordering guacamole on anything, it's about $3.00 extra and they do not tell you that!
- Pros: Pros? None.
- Cons: Many including low quality meat and attitude.
Food and staff were great
by CSMobileUser2
Dicovered el fuego a few months ago. A bit small but those guys pump out those burritos like an assembly line. All the staff has always been polite and nice to me. I've never had any issues with that staff. They are a bit abrupt during the lunch rush bit that's how they serve so many.
My new favorite place....
by 6pennies
I found this place walking up Chestnut Street about 3 weeks ago and have been there about 5 times already. The atmosphere is super cool and the staff is awesome nice. My husband and I really enjoyed the tasty quesidillas while listening to "The Roots". It was seriously the coolest place and can make the perfect cheap date. Apparently they have other locations but the one I visit is between 21st and 22nd Chestnut Street
- Pros: Great location
- Cons: it's kind of low key so you might miss it if your not paying close attention
Great food at affordable prices
by NYCrazz
I was recently found this spot while on vacation in Philly. The food and the service were great. The burritos were delicious and the music and atmosphere were great. The staff could not have been nicer, especially Pete, who was adorable and very friendly.
cool atmosphere, tasty burritos, nice staff
by Salzburger
I was very surprised to hear previous reviews bad mouth this dimly lit little house of heavenly tastes. I've been going there for 3 years now and have never found the staff to be rude or unlikeable. I play soccer with the manager, who's moving on to the new place in the Rittenhouse area and is really excited about how cool it should be. The other guys are always good for a nice hello, some bantering, or chit-chat about a game playing on tv. I go there pretty often to watch soccer matches and grab some tasty food. Good chorizo or steak burritos. Guac is to die for and chips are nicely salted (you have to pay extra for them, but so worth it). Order up a Negro Modelo or Pacifico and relax with a bunch of friends at a table - can't think of a more chill and easy meal. Definitely a step up from Qdoba because of better quality ingredients and spices, plus they have yummy Jarritos outside of the normal fountain sodas. Rumor has it the new place has a full liquor license and will be serving frozen margaritas from a slurpy machine! And if you prefer to eat outside the shop, which can get really busy around lunch time during the week, then take your taste-explosion out to Washington Sq for a meal under the sycamores. Try it out and I hope you won't be as disappointed as the previous reviewers.
- Pros: burritos, guac & chips, tv
- Cons: lunchtime rush
Fat Guy with Glasses Ruined it for Me
by TortillaChinchilla
MediaSavant couldn't be more RIGHT!!!
I liked the chorizo quesadilla's, but every time I went there, usually after work at night, the fat guy with glasses would GAWK at my chest. It would've been uncomfortable had he not been such a lump of a guy. He could only wish to get his paws on these puppies. But without fail, while ringing me up, his eyes would be fixed on my chest. A few times I dined in and would catch him gawking at me while pretending he was futzing with his iPod. It was cute, but scummy and I finally got sick it because it only got worse. So I just stopped going. I hear el Fuego is opening a new place, which I'll visit so long has that guy doesn't work there.
Decent Food Served by Jerks

The burritos are OK. A cut above Qdoba but not far. Nice, pretentious ambience, complete with table candles in case you wanted to take a date there. Problem is the staff are all meatheads, especially Pete, the Long Island-born chatterbox who is either always checking his e-mail on his iTouch or bad mouthing customers at a volume they can hear. (If your girl is remotely hot, guaranteed Pete will give her a once or twice over.) The Argentinian isn't worse in this respect. He'll roll a great burrito without ever having to take his eye's off a set of lady lumps. The manager, a tall, lanky white dude is the coolest one, but my buddy worked there and said they hire people for "training," then fire them after a couple of weeks after paying them $5 an hour as "training pay." Judging from the turnover, sounds like they get a lot of cheap labor.
- Pros: Cheap Food
- Cons: Meathead Staff
great quick lunch spot
by aphyllis
read a few recent reviews and felt compelled to post one of my own as a frequent lunch customer. service is quick and solid. the guys have personality and character. that is a added value on top of the killer burritos. the mood, music, decor is unique. much different from the chains. something i value. nothing but love for this spot.
- Pros: massive burritos
- Cons: doctors
Good Food, Ignorant Staff
by JayEL
The food is always fresh and full of flavor. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted some good mexican food. The only problem I have with this place is the staff has something ignorant to say about everyone that walks through the door. I might not know that person but still only god knows what they say about me.
- Pros: Great Food
- Cons: Ignorant Staff
Worst Burrito I've Had in a While
by madeofstone
This burrito was terrible, first of all these guys don't know how to wrap a burrito at all, it fell apart the second I opened the tin foil wrapping. Second of all for the price I paid I might as well have gone to Qdoba or Santa Fe. Also taste-wise the burrito had a really funky taste.
- Pros: Close to where I work
- Cons: Everything else
