Kate and Bernadette created the most beautiful wedding dress for me. I receive compliments on my dress years later from people that attended the wedding. The dress fit perfectly, it was exactly what I wanted and it was unique. The girls were quick and everything was well priced. They were so helpful with everything including offering thoughts on other areas of my wedding. I would take my sister there for her dress and she lives in LA! This was one of the best experiences of planning my wedding and I would always consider Hennessy May'd anytime I need a formal dress in the future. I can't rave enough about what a great experience and wonderful my dress was. I strongly recommend them to anyone getting married that wants a beautiful dress.

Kate is an amazing dressmaker & I would (& have) highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a personal clothing creatiion. I've always been a bit particular about clothing...fit, cut & fabric. When I started searching for my wedding dress I was uncomfortable & disappointed with all the Bridal Boutiques that I went to. They all tried to make me fit into their ready to wear dresses (adding padded cups, etc) rather than finding a dress that fit me. My first appointment with Kate was 11 months before my wedding. I brought in pictures, we drew sketches & she showed me different samples of fabric to help me create my dress. While I had an overall idea of what I wanted it to look like, Kate is a master when it comes to details. During one fitting, she noticed I was posturing differently & could tell (even before I could) that I wasn't comfortable with part of the dress & she immediately worked to correct it. Compared to ready to wear dresses that I've seen and tried on in stores, as well as based on friends' experiences, Hennessy May'd is VERY reasonably priced. Kate is down to earth & put me at ease in her shop. You can tell she has had a lot of experience, and she is wonderful at explaning all the phases of the process. She was upfront about having a series of appointments, time lines & what would happen if either one of us had to reschedule an appointment. I couldn't disagree more with the other reviewer's (krea's) negative comments about Kate. Creating a custom dress is a long & involved process (many fittings & a muslin sample before she cuts the actual fabric) but it is definitely worth it, if you want an outfit that is unique & custom made. If you like to have the options of picking out fabrics, buttons, lace & every other detail of your dress rather than going with something off-the-rack that hundreds of other brides will also wear, and you want to work with creative, talented & overall great dressmaker then Hennessy May'd is the place for you.

Having a dress made by this seamstress was the worst experience I have ever had. I don't even know where to begin. I started working with her a year before my daughter's wedding. I am so tiny that I knew I could never find a MOB dress in a store that would fit me. I had several appointments with her where not much was accomplished. She missed appointments, she canceled appointments at the last minute and made a dress that was ill fitting. I couldn't even wear the jacket and had to try and remake the dress myself. I tried to get her to fit the dress properly, but she just didn't seem to understnad that I wanted a dress that fit well. I and sick when I look at the wedding photos. The price was out of sight. At one point she called and screamed at me over the phone because I didn't think I should have to pay full price for a poorly made dress. I wouldn't recomment her to anyone. She is rude, mean and uncooperative.

This woman saved my life. I was a few weeks out from the wedding date and ran into trouble with my dress (long-long-long story). I walked into Kate's shop and was instantly comfortable, and convinced that we could, together, design a dress. We did and it turned out wonderful, affordable, and exactly what I wanted. Kate made the process easy even though I was panicked. Her style is simple, elegant, creative, and reassuring. I recommend talking to Kate about your dress, your wedding, your style and letting her assist you in making the dress of your dreams.
