Lousy food, disinterested managment, overpriced beer . . . avoid it
by jayrxlaw
It was a beautiful early evening in Philly. We braved the Columbus Ave. concert going, fireworks watching traffic in anticipation of a good meal on the river. Boy, were we disappointed. I had the waitress recommended Steak Fajitas. Truly a disgusting experience from the first bite. The meat was fatty, undercooked (not rare, simply undercooked/ill prepared), the vegetables were pre-mixed & frozen and the salsa was from a jar. Inedible. My wife ordered the chicken cheesesteak. She first received a beef cheesesteak and sent if back. She should have kept it. Her chicken cheesesteak was also inedible. She took one bite, could not decide whether the chicken was spoiled or mis-spiced with Bay Seasoning, or just disgusting, but she could not eat it. Our 3 yo did enjoy her mashed potatoes. When the disinterested manager was informed the food was disgusting, he was non-plussed and appeared to not care less. Cavanaughs is there to serve $5 beers and obviously does not want, or care about serving edible food. Put your $5 toward a six-pack and go somewhere else. YUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK
- Pros: on the river
- Cons: food, management, drink prices
Water-borne outdoor party spot stays afloat with a strong nautical theme.

In Short
This "Irish sports bar on the water" seems Irish in name only, but with nightly drink specials, local cover bands and an outdoor dance floor on the Delaware, the place is a definite summer destination for after-work and weekend revelers. The extensive menu offers dishes that are quite ambitious for a waterfront sports bar, such as the $25 filet mignon. Several excellent variations of the classic burger are the perfect complement to the tapped beer.
DINNER ON SUNDAY
by CITYSALESMAN
I WAS ON MY WAY TO KATMANDU ON COLUMBUS BLVD ON SUNDAY WITH A DATE, AND WHEN WE GOT THEIR WE FOUND OUT KATMANDU WAS NO MORE! BUT WE WENT IN ANYHOW, MUCH TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS RUN BY OLD MANAGERS FROM KATMANDU THEIR OWN WAY! IT WAS GREAT FROM THE CLEANER LOOK TO THE UPDATED SPORTS BAR AND THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING!!!
I HAD THE BEST DAMN STEAK PERIOD AND JUDY HAD THE CRAB CAKES. WELL WE ASKED THE WAITRESS WHY THE FOOD HAS CHANGED FROM THE OLD FAVS OF KATMANDU? SHE SAID THE OWNER IS THE CHEF AND THAT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. HE IS WELL KNOWN FROM BEING CHEF OF KATMANDU AND ROCK LOBSTER I HEAR. WELL WE STUCK AROUND AND CHECKED OUT REST OF THE CLUB AND I ALSO NOTICED THE NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM ON DANCE FLOOR, WOW A BIG DIFFERENCE FROM KATMANDU.
- Pros: EXCELLENT FOOD, GREAT STAFF, CLEAN
- Cons: ISLAND FRIES ARE GONE, NO BOAT DOCKS
BULL RIDES
by TIMEOUTPHILLY
I WAS THERE ON THURSDAY JUNE 19TH, HANGING WITH SOME FRIENDS, THEN THEY STARTED SETTING UP A MECHANICAL BULL ON THEIR PIER UNDERNEATH A HUGE TENT. WE RODE THE BULL 2 TIMES AND SAT BACK AND WATCH THE WOMEN TAKE OVER FOR A WHILE. WE WILL BE BACK EVERY THURSDAY. I CAN ONLY REMEMBER ABOUT 3 PEOPLE RIDING THE BULL ALL THE WAY THROUGH WITHOUT FALLING OFF.
- Pros: BEER SPECIALS, HEATED TENTS, LAID BACK
- Cons: CLOSES AT 2 AM

by Helene
What a great place, a change for the better. the new owners have really done a great job, with food and staff. can't wait for the weather to break so I can enjoy the deck. The shepards pie was great!
and had fun watching the playoff games in the new heated sports bar with video wall. Will be back soon.
- Pros: great food, excellent staff, great music
- Cons: parking/have valet, katmandu signs, not open all year
