This is an excellent restaurant. It was nice to go into such a nice place and have a delicious, completely vegan meal. I recommend this to vegans and meat eaters. It's a great place. And do not forget the desert its the best part!

I heard great things about Horizons , but the experience left me underwhelmed and feeling more than a little ripped off. First off, the specialty drinks were simply awful. El Passion is some combination of Tequila, mashed fruit pulp, and lime. It was DIABOLICAL. Tasted like bitter orange peel mixed with booze. To be avoided at all costs! My friend was not impressed with her Mojito like drink either (can't remember the name of it). To be fair, the Long Island Ice Teas we ordered afterwards were expertly made and delicious. The First Course: Vietnamese Bruschetta. Absolutely delicious. A cracker like piece of bruschetta topped with perfectly seasoned tofu and topped with a dollop of spicy mint relish. Probably one of the best tofu dishes I have ever eaten. Do not miss this one. The Second Course: DO NOT ORDER THE GRILLED SEITAN!!! Tastes exactly, and I mean absolutely exactly like Morningstar Farms Steak Strips. The mashed potato and spinach could not mask the flat, chewy and outright boring taste of this spongy entree. It also happens to be the most expensive thing on the menu at $21. I was very disappointed. You could make the same thing at home for less than $10. Dessert: Blueberry Cheesecake was delicious, but at $9 a slice, you'll hate yourself after you devour the whole thing within 3 or 4 bites. All in all, the food isn't bad, but way, way overpriced. Treat yourself if you are curious, but honestly, there are better places to eat veg in the city (Singapore, falafel at Cedar's)
Pros: One of a kind menu
Cons: Price

All the rave reviews are well deserved. Horizons menu is the most creative and delicious i've ever tasted. If i HAD to stretch to find fault with this restaurant, it would be with the servers- I can't tell if they are slightly pretentious or slightly uncomfortable. Either way this place loses no points, i love it.
Pros: deliciousness
Cons: pricey

My girlfriend and I love this place, so much that we bought their cook book that they sell and when we have time we try to recreate their dishes. We live out in West Chester and every time we come into the city this is the only place we want to eat. The menu has a great selection and the people their are so friendly. It is also nice to see the owners working their, they add so much to the atmosphere The foods is great, I took one of my "steak and potato" friends there and he was amazed at the Portobello mushroom dish that they had. I wish I could figure out how to prepare tofu the way they do.
Pros: Food is great so are the folks that work there
Cons: Parking

I was visiting Philadelphia with my boyfriend and his sister/brother-in-law. There was a wait at the dining area so we grabbed a table at the bar upstairs. We had the place all to ourselves. I can't say much about the beer or wine, but the tapas were to-die-for. We tried the gazpacho, a wild mushroom dish, and something with roasted red pepper. It was fresh and filling. The flavors were well blended, complimentary, and not overpowering. My favorite - the Jamaican BBQ seitan. I would go there again in a heartbeat, and so would my very carnivorous boyfriend.
Pros: Polite, casual service and hip atmosphere
Cons: Out of a college student's price range and not in Atlanta!

I used to go to Horizons when it was in the 'burbs. I was worried that it would change when it reopened in Philly, and it did...for the better. Everything is great about this place. The ambience is just right, the presentation of the food, the food itself, the staff. Even my non-vegan friends love the food there. Make sure to get a reservation though.

Horizons offers more in the way of vegetarian fine dining with its delicately made dishes filled with innovative and unusual ingredients. It isn't cheap, but is worth the money for the ambience and service. You should definitely make a reservation as it is a limited space with much demand. Like I said, it offers more in the way of cuisine than regular every day eating. I definitely enjoyed Horizons, but find Blue Sage in Bucks County, PA to have a much more palatable range of tastes. This is a person preference. But for good vegetarian cuisine in Philadelphia - Horizons is the place.
Pros: Kind and helpful waitstaff
Cons: Location, Need for reservations ahead of time

THE BEST INTRODUCTION TO VEGETARIAN FOOD YOU COULD ASK FOR. I HAVE FOUND NOTHING LIKE IT ANYWHERE. STOP WASTING TIME ELSE WHERE AND GET TO HORIZONS! IT COSTS MORE THAN $3.95 BUT THEN AGAIN...ITS NOT A VEGGIE BURGER...ITS HEAVEN!
Pros: SEITAN, SERVICE, DESSERTS
Cons: NONE

I am not sure why Citysearch has not updated Horizon's new address of 611 S. 7th Street yet, so eager customers know where to look. At any rate, the food is exceptional! Take tofu. Yeah, tofu is tofu, it tastes like tofu. Not at Horizon's. The tastes range from spicy to a Caribbean theme. The tofu taste is just subdued into the dish. I've branched out from my usual seitan entree to treat my taste buds to these new experiences. Horizon's allows you let down your guard and take the road less traveled. The menu has quite the eclectic blend of exotic and simple ingredients. I am confident that even if I do not know exactly what Im reading with respect to ingredients, that it is going to be out of this world. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. A fantastic ambience awaits you and your friends and family. Please don't pass this up. I had been going to the Willow Grove cafe for years. With this new location, it seems just right. Same great people, same great taste.
Cons: Not too much room for several large groups

I've be a semi-regular at Horizons for years, at it get's better all the time! Rich makes the most amazing sauses and the seitan steak fills every craving i've ever had for meat in 6 years. The desert is to die for, great service, nice atmosphere and very well priced! I still have not gotton to see there new location on 7th street in philly, but it's worth the hour drive.
Pros: service, sauces, even good for non-veg
