Cheap prices and a friendly atmosphere make this corner taproom a neighborhood favorite.

In Short
This neighborhood bar serves up uncomplicated food and drink to a diverse local clientele. Drawn in by cheap prices and a comfy, unpretentious atmosphere, med students from Jefferson Hospital drink with construction workers, yuppies and fashionable urbanites. The narrow bar features a jukebox with classic rock and booths for friends to gather with their pitchers of Yeungling Lager ($5 on Wednesdays). Lagers and Buds are popular, but the taps pour Flying Fish and other highbrow brews.

jake's the man when bourbon's the plan -- eugene o'neill would have loved this place.
best dive bar in town
by kathyswank
THis is my favorite dive bar in the city. I am very sad that Donna no longer works there as she was my favorite bartender, but all the bartenders are great! If you like quizzo then you'll want to stop in on a Tuesday night. Quizzo starts at 7:30, but get there early if you want a seat!
- Pros: bartenders, prices, customers
- Cons: , loud
Michelle Rocks!
by adrian1012
I go to this bar for lunch because that's where Michelle bartends on Mondays. She is the best bar gal in the city. Friendly, sweet and sexy - oh..she pours a mean glass of beer too. Be sure to tip well or you'll get on her bad side. The Wings are awesome and so are the cheesesteaks.
Loco at Locust
by blueyeznj
A fine place to stop and quaff a few brews during an evening (or afternoon) romp. Donna's got an attitude which tames the most surly of customers.
- Pros: Down-to-earth, Good mix of folks
- Cons: Buy backs are few, White Album overload
Sweet Misery
by runs_with_scissors
What a great neighborhood bar. After only a few minutes inside, I was engaged in interesting, if somewhat drunken conversation with locals who treated me like one of their own! I appreciate a good dive bar where, after a few beers and a couple of shots you know how miserable everyone's lives are. The bartender, Donna, even came out from behind the bar to hug me upon my departure.
- Pros: Nice and dark, Lots of fellow drunks, cheap
Its All about Donna
by softrockrenegade
Been going to Locust for about 8 years, and make no mistake, this is Donna's bar. Sorry Tom, but the place gets packed because Donna is fun to watch and listen to even when she's having one of her bad nights. She can be tough to newcomers, so smile and be nice...it will pay dividends. Try the Fried ravioli and of course, the waffle cheese Fries. Oh, and on Saturdays...Paul cracks the foulest (and worst) jokes.
The ONLY CC bar!

The Low-Cost bar to insiders features ice cold beer, bountiful shots, very good food, and Donna! Can't be beat when tippling in Center City.

it is a great bar to go to if you just want to hang out away from the black pants and platform shoes crowd. the bartender donna is really cool even though she has an attitude!
