I feel most temp agencies at this time of year probably have a surplus of applicants with the economy as it is, but since I spent hours testing at this agency I deserved more than the misrepresentation Philly Temps provided. I relocated to Philadelphia and applied for a temp-to-perm position with Philly Temps. I feel my credentials are better than average. I have two university degrees and I've worked in global corporate firms for years. While the staff seems congenial, the reality is they never looked for a position for me. Perhaps it's a race issue, but I've worked in the corporate world long enough to realize it shouldn't be an issue to land a $14 an hour temp position. They informed me on the interview there were two positions available within the $14 -$18 range. I contacted them every three days as a followup. On my first call I was informed the recruiter was reviewing my resume, although she reviewed it during our interview and when I submitted it several days before I entered their office for testing. The second call indicated my resume as forwarded to a potential employer. Five days later, the recruiter is suddenly in meetings when I call. When I entered their facility, three staff persons couldn't log into the testing system, which is "prove it." The testing system is more than seven years old and at times doesn't permit you to use typical microsoft shortcuts for answers so it scores inaccurately. They also stated their computers are old, when I submitted a PDF as a resume, I was asked to resubmit a word doc because their systems wouldn't read PDFs. It's a matter of simple economics. All temp agencies are profit/loss driven and if a person remotely will fit a position, they'll fill it because it's money in their pockets. Based on the lack of response for qualified people who wish to work I would not recommend PhIlly Temps as a reputable agency.
Pros: Congenial Staff
Cons: Couldn't deliver services.

Philly Temps and Perm, located in the heart of Philadelphia, are the only and main reason why I have accomplished so much since graduating from VA Tech in Geography and Computer Science back in December 2006. I moved to the Philadelphia area in August 2007. I found a very low paying job until I found a career. September 13th, a group of Angels called me. They were Philly Temps. The owner informed me that she found my resume impressive online using a popular career searching tool. I came in for a screening and interview, and had placement that week. Not by one company, but two. One position was a dream job, living the life like Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada. Me being very adaptable and versatile to any environment, I was up for anything. This position wouldn't start for another 3 weeks, so although things were exciting, I really needed a job that pays for my way of living. The NEXT day, the owner called me stating that there is a position of a lifetime as a credit analyst and investigator. Meanwhile, I have no background in financing or economics, but I took the assignment. Two months after the assignment, I became permanent, and was loved by every person in my company, being the key person to elevate this new company's turn around rates on loan payments from 30% to 71 %. I was the key role in turning deals over to get the approval or decline stamp. Unfortunately, on March 27th, the company dismissed all entry and mid level staff due to the declining economy. I had a great experience and gained lots of experience that would take me to the next position that I currently work for, also found by Philly Temps after 30 days of idleness. The position I currently am assigned to is retail leasing and real estate, and they wanted me permanent after 1 week. My work ethics carried over from the last career but I owe the beginning of my independent and adult life to Philly Temps. The secretary is wonderful and pleasant and the staffing crew is amazing.
Pros: Never stop working to find you an assignment, Loyal, Dedicated, Intuitive on Your Goals, Work for YOU.
Cons: Kinda wish some benefits were offered, especially direct deposit.

Liz & Christine Faville have developed one of the best businesses in the city. They are large enough to handle the big projects, but small enough where you can talk to the owner, if you have a need. The staff is friendly and the candidates are always top notch. We used Philly Temps 3 years ago to fulfill an admin position and that individual is now one of our top loan officers. In fact, she was promoted to Vice President last month. I cannot say enough about PT and their committment to helping business owners grow. We are a lifetime client. Thanks!!!
Pros: Small enough to hold our hand through the process.

I had a horrible experience as a temp at PhillyTemps. I was told they had a placement opportunity for me and asked that I call to discuss the details the next week. Of course, I called to follow up at the beginning of the week and was told by a manager that their client was not available because of the holiday. The manager said she would call me the next day after she spoke with the client. Then, no phone call. When I attempted to follow up my calls were blatantly screened and my voicemails were never returned. I was not told until the end of the week by the receptionist that the position had been filled. They could have been up front and honest instead of immature and disrespectful of my time. Some advice, steer clear of this business.
Pros: other people who were looking for placement through PhillyTemps were delightful
Cons: the staff and management at PhillyTemps are horrible
