check out their happy hour during the week and on sundays during football season. happy hour times are early though, i think it ends at 6. but for $3 1/2 lb burger and fries and other $3 $4 and $5 specials, it cant be beat!

  • Pros: cheap happy hour specials M-F, great fish and seafood
  • Cons: expensive dining room

In Short
Upscale and sophisticated, this chain features art deco-inspired trappings such as dark wood, shiny brass and beveled glass. Servers clad in black and white weave through cocktailing couples and businessmen at the bar. The classic American, seasonally inspired seafood menu changes daily; specialties include starters of Dungeness crab cakes and oysters on the half shell, plus entrees like cedar plank-roasted salmon, sauteed lobster with scallops and rock shrimp, and seared yellowfin tuna with wasabi, soy and ginger.

I've been to this McCormick and Schmick's twice. Once I was seated upstairs, which was lovely in a booth. But downstairs is huge and very noisy. The food is overall good - only a few bum dishes, but they're still at least adequate. The waitstaff is fantastic; very knowledgeable and professional. Its pricey, but the fresh fish is good (try the Mahi Mahi), and its a much better alternative to Bookbinder's. You'll be treated well, so its worth a try.

  • Pros: fresh fish, good soups
  • Cons: large and noisy

It?s sad that so many people did not have a pleasant visit here because I did, and I would CERTAINLY come back!! I guess every restaurant has a ?bad day?, but thankfully, I didn?t run into one. My friends and I went during restaurant week, (a first for me, but the third visit for them). I ordered from the ?regular? menu and the food was DELICIOUS!! Everything was cooked to perfection from the Filet Mignon to the asparagus (which I don?t normally eat). The ?Warm Bread Pudding? was heavenly!! Our server ?Sam? was very attentive and friendly and quick!! Even the manager came to our table to ?check on things? ? AND he was sincere. I don?t usually dine in Center City because of the pricey parking, but it was worth it that day. McCormick & Schmick?s have a customer for life!!

  • Pros: EVERYTHING was perfect !!! DEFINTELY thumbs up !!

Accompanied my wife here on a Saturday night; she was with a rather large group (probably 30 people total), which could explain some of the service problems...but the menu was fixed (choice of salad, entree & dessert was limited). The food was terrible.

I had eaten at the Seattle location of this chain in June, and both the service and food there were forgettable as well. I'll never go in their doors again.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: bad food, bad service

We decided to try their new location in Cherry Hill, NJ recently after only a week of opening. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told to have a drink at the bar and they would come get us in 10 min. The restaurant was crowded and very noisy. There was no place to check coats. You needed to put them behind your seat or on one of the "hooks" on the posts at the end of the booths. We had a wonderful waitress (Karen) and if ti weren't for her, we probably would've left. Water and bread took 1/2 hr. to arrive. (Where were the bussers)?? After cocktails, we ordered our meal. For appetizers, we had fried calamari, oysters and steamed cockles. The calamari were OK, oysters were terrible and the cockles were great. We were just finishing our appetizers when someone arrived with our 3 entrees. Not knowing where to put them, he took them back and 2 min. later returned with the food. Our entrees of wild sockeye salmon were very dry and tasteless. The mahi mahi was ok.

I can excuse bad service after only a week of opening but unsatisfactory food in not accepted. If you must go, make reservatiions. The wait without one was 1 hr- 1 1/2 hr.

I would NOT return!!!

  • Pros: Karen our waitress , parking
  • Cons: Everything else

I've been to this restaurant on three occassions now; twice with a group of 12 or more from work, and once with my wife for her birthday. I gave the restaurant three stars only because when I ate there on the two occassions with the group, my food was excellent and was well seasoned. When I ate their with my wife, my salmon was small and unseasoned. To be more specific, I ordered to salmon with raspberry sauce the first time I went with the group and it was perfect. The second time I ordered tilapia with Jamaican rum butter and that was great. The third time with my wife, I ordered the salmon and I think they ran out of the raspberry sauce as they were cooking my salmon because there was hardly any sauce on there.

Other than that one experience, the food is good, the desserts are great if you're in to sweets, the drinks are very tasty, and the service is one of the best I've experienced. In addition, if you plan to bring someone there for their birthday, they will actually print "Happy Birthday (insert person's name)" on the menu. When my wife realized that, she absolutely loved it. Its a small gesture, but its something that is really appreciated. If you plan to bring a significant other, make a reservation and ask for a booth. It makes your dining experience more romantic.

  • Pros: One of the best seafood restaurants in Center City Philadelphia
  • Cons: If you drive, paying for parking is your only option

My wife and I almost decided on another restaurant by reading the negative reviews. We are so glad we ignored the negative and went with the positive reviews. The place is fantastic! Our waiter Skipper was the best waiter I have ever had in 4 decades of dining. The seafood and wine were excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

  • Pros: Food, service
  • Cons: None

The service at this restaurant was unbelievably bad. First, the restaurant made our reservation for the wrong day (My husband made the reservation for our anniversaty/v-day and was SURE of when he made it) Then, the people in line behind us said that they had their reservation for the wrong time! then when we ate and my food came, it was the wrong dish and there was no waitress or manager in sight. we had to wait to ask a random person who worked there to find our waitress. I was so annoyed. I will never pay $100 for a meal like that with that service. will never go back there.

  • Pros: food, view
  • Cons: service

Food was just Ok. Service was a little slow. Go down a block and eat at the Capital Grille...Now you are talking!!
