Needs to be CHOPPED

If this was the cooking show "Chopped", I would vote for this one to be chopped on the first round.

The place to hard to find, with a very tiny that is lost among the bigger signs on City Avenue. When we did find it we wanted to Valet as it was pouring rain, the valet desk was out, but we waited there ten minutes and a valet never showed up.

The restaurant is kind of a faux Ruth Chris Steak House. The space is just a big open space on the first floor of a office building, with some objects stuck on the walls to give it a steakhouse feel.

Our booth was not ready, so we waited 20 minutes in the bar. The bartenders was just rude. First they had no crushed ice and then the tap beer was not working. She seemed angry at us for ordering things that they did not have.

Our waiter was friendly and good. I really enjoyed my salad. However the other person ordered a tomato and onion salad. The tomatoes were mealy and seemed frozen and then thawed. It took us a long time to get our steaks. Someone at our table ordered a chopped sirloin, they ordered medium, but it was raw, not rare - but raw. It was charred on the outside, but looked like raw hamburger on the inside.

We skipped dessert or coffee as we just wanted to get out of this place. We were not compensated for the salad we sent back or that the meat was raw.

I have chopped Chops from my Philadelphia restaurant list and will not be a return customer.

Chops Flops...

The ambience is inviting -- comfortable booth seating. Most of the waitstaff is cordial and professional. However, a few are shall I say, not particularly evolved. Also, one of the maitre ds is not particularly welcoming.

On my last few visits to the restaurant, the calibre of the food had deteriorated. Under the presumption that the first disappointing entre was a fluke, I allowed two more opportunities. I believe on the second visit, my date suffered food poisoning, likely from poorly handled/prepared food. On the final visit, I was presented with a seafood item which was clearly rancid and/or toxic. To describe the odor of the dish as "vile" is not to overstate.

This former fan and patron will no longer assume the risk of dining at Chops. Whatever the issues may be with Chops'

chef(s), certain waitstaff and food preparation and handling, the ownership might consider auditing and upgrading -- before they incur serious liability.

CHOPS SHOULD BE CHOPPED

AFTER BEING A FREQUENT VISITOR FOR SEVERAL YRS I WAS SHOCKED AND DISMAYED WHAT HAPPENED JUNE 2010. Unable to use a coupon with my family of 4 due to a "SPECIAL being offered "" the waiter signed the back of the coupon. Return next month the waiter said with the signed coupon on the back by me and the restaurant will honor the soon to be expired out dated coupon.Upon our arrival with our signed coupon two weeks later the Maitre d' informed us" anyone could have signed the back ".NO HONORING AND MUCH INSULTING TO MY 81 YEAR OLD DAD We left immediately. After calling the restaurant to explain how I felt I was told by the same mairtre d' tell your dad to come in for dinner and I will apologize to him. " DO YOU THINK ??????

Great food, big drinks

After a long week we didn't want to go in town but still wanted a full size cocktail and a steak. The filet oscar was a special and was cooked perfectly, The drinks are big and cold. We were seated promptly without a reservation and our server Arianna was extremely nice and gave excellent service. Just as good as any of the Broad St. steakhouses.

Chops is delicious!!

I have been to Chops several times. The food & cocktails are consistently wonderful. The staff is extremely professional yet still very friendly. If you haven't eaten at Chops yet, you are missing out!

absolutely the rudest place

Took a client to lunch and of all people, the owner, was the rudest "hospitality" I have encountered when trying to seat us. Condescending is too nice for this guy, all while I am there for business. My money is going elsewhere...

Fabulous Restaurant!

I went to Chops last night for the first time & the food was amazing! I had the arugula salad, the Chilean Sea Bass, & shared the chocolate cake for dessert - it was delicious! I would highly recommend it. The service was great as well.

Pretentious atmosphere, bland food, disgusting

A group of us went there for dinner last night. Our waiter was extremely rude. He asked a friend how he would like his fish cooked, and when my friend replied he made a loud buzz noise as if that was the incorrect answer and said "Try again." He seemed irritated if we didn't want our meat cooked the way he believed it should be cooked. He seemed annoyed to serve a group of young, non Caucasians. That may seem a little presumptuous on my part, but I really believe it.

Secondly, the food was awful. If you're looking for a great steak, I highly recommend Capital Grille in the city. The best steak I ever had with great service. I had the chilean sea bass - bland and awful. I went home nauseous. Way over-priced for terrible food.

Great place to eat!

I have eaten at Chops several times. We have always had a delightful meal. They have valet parking, courteous staff, and excellent fresh fish. They also make giant Martinis!! My friend Marole turned me on to it and is also a regular. oh yeah, don't forget theRiffy Salad!

Critic Laban was right!

The strip steak here at Chops is tough and fatty just like he said. I would not come here again for the steak. My drink was just so-so, not among the better ones I have had. The rest of meal was mediocre. Overall Chops does not represent good value or good food at all. It was very disappointing!
