Its a cool place!
by tekkid
I have been here 5 times and always have a good time. The hostess, car service guy and bouncers know me. They welcome me back and we make small talk... I feel like norm from cheers when i go in there. Food is excellent to me. I dont understand the negative comments i've read below. Some of the comments, have never happen to me as yet.
- Pros: Car service, food, atmosphere, service
Nice place for dinner and drinks
by dbenders
I liked the idea of this place, so I kind of took some of the negative reviews with a grain of salt and went anyway. We really had a good time. The service was very good, everyone loved their food and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a dinner reservation before 9pm so there wasn't a cover and we didn't have the 18% included gratuity that people complained about. Maybe that stuff happens downstairs where the live band was playing. If you want music, but are more concerned with eating I recommend staying in the upstairs dining room. The music is definitely loud enough. Overall, it was a great night and we would go back.
Don't waste your money

Went there early Saturday evening to celebrate a college graduation. Waitress service was spotty. We had three groups seated at the bar tables and had trouble getting served drinks. One group had to wait over an hour for its entrees. Two of our groups were served meals and were finished 1/2 hour before the meals for the third group arrived. This was even after we were assured several times that our food would be right out. The food was mediocre at best. Side vegetables were lukewarm. We would have sent all food back except we didn't want to wait another hour. Save your money and go elsewhere.
- Pros: Parking service
- Cons: Waitress service, waiting time, food quality
horrendous

This bar was awful. I went there for a high school reunion and the staff was rude and disrespectful. They kicked my friend out for wearing a hat and when some of us tried to reason with the manager explaining that we were at a reunion, they kicked us all out and told us to come back in the morning for our coats and credit cards. Stay away from this place!
- Pros: nothing
- Cons: horrible staff
Nice decor, but N'awlins this is not.

In Short
More Wyeth farmhouse than Bourbon Street bistro, this Manayunk restaurant isn't what you'd expect from its name. Instead of bawdy beads and hurricane mixers, Bourbon Blue offers thick stone walls and a rustic yet refined, dining room that separates diners from the young Banana The menu includes oysters with gouda dressings and crawfish etoufee creatively tops fried tomatoes. The adobo topping on the porterhouse tastes tangy and the saving grace? Chocolate bourbon pecan pie.
Can't wait to go back

I ignored the negative reviews on here and took my parents there for Mother's day. I expected it to be a nice place with average food, from what I had read on here.
I thought the food was excellent. Perhaps there is a standard for oysters that I'm not aware but I have been craving them ever my visit.
I had the red snapper which was cooked to perfection. My parents, who are particular diners, also loved their meals. We had several special requests due to allergies and the owner (I believe) came over personally to take care of them. They were incredibly nice, the service was quick, and they gave a us a good table.
I think you should definitely give it try, especially considering how many overpriced, bad, rude, overcrowded resturants there are in this area. Your experience may be different from mine, but I sincerely hope not.
- Pros: Food, Service, Space
- Cons: Parking

I have read everyones postings about Bourbon Blue and I dont quite undertsand the negativity. I go there frequently with my wife and we do so because of the beautiful atmosphere, great service and awesome food. If you havent been there and you are reading the rest of the postings...STOP READING! This place is fun, electric and has great value. The new chef should get a raise because the specials are always fantastic. Stop reading the crap and give this place it's due.Best in Manayunk and great for Philly!
- Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere
- Cons: Loud Late, very crowded
nauseous
by mvader
It is a bunch of
people who want to be in NYC but are too scared to live there because
they won't have their whole high school crew with them. So, they
congregate where they can still order $12 drinks and wear their tight
black shirts and gel their hair. It actually makes me nauseous to be
there.
At least go for lunch...

My fiance and I stopped by Boubon Blue after a late morning stroll around Manayunk. We didn't think it was open for lunch but they were. The decor is very beautiful and rustic; it had the feel of classic New Orleans. We were seated and given the menus. For lunch, the prices are pretty cheap. I ordered a Bourbon Blue Burger (8.5) and my fiance had the regular Burger (7). The food took a while to come out, and they had no other customers besides us. Once the food arrived, I was awed by the large portions. The Cajun steak fries were perfectly meaty and my burger was juicy and delicious. For lunch, two people with 2 entrees, 2 drinks came to 20 dollars excluding tip. If you don't feel like splurging on dinner at Bourbon Blue, the lunch is a steal!
- Pros: Beautiful Interior, Food, Prices (Lunch
- Cons: , Slow-er Service, Prices (Dinner)
New Orleans Experience

I frequent Bourbon Blue, and have yet to have a disapointing time. I'm not sure how FatChloe missed "blackened" on the menu, as they serve blackened catfish, blackened redfish, blackened sirloin and blacken chicken. Bourbon Blue is an excellent place for dinner and cocktails, and the fine food is only surpassed by attentive service.
- Pros: Food, Crowd, Prices
