I was happy to find a spot where you don't have to be 21 to get in but there was a high price to pay! There was a convenient coat check and plenty of dance room. I thought the dj was great but was turned off by the massive amount of guys standing around. Get off your a** and dance, you didn't pay $20 to stand for three hours. Besides that I though the mix of old and young to be pretty cool and would definitely go back, but with a lot more people!

Pros: The music and the free entertainment

Cons: Too many people trying to profile instead of having fun

For guys, if you are 35-40, and still look like your 21-25, and want to get lap dances from girls 17-21 all night, this is the place to be. Just make sure you don't see your son or daughter in here. hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Shampoo is one of those places that just feels like something out of a movie. The area around shampoo is a bit sketchy looking but seems ok. good amount of parking available. When you first get in you are welcomed by a small ante room that has a coat check and ticket info. Make your way back through the small sitting area and you see two bars. Lots of ambience here. Many small alcoves to hang out in draped in either velvet or surrounded in stone. On the first level there is also a small dance floor with funky lighting but still very dark. Alright so at this point I think good size little club...but upstairs it opens up into this much larger space with another larger dancefloor , two bars,and a stage area for live music. The restrooms are also on this level. Soundsystems here I think are great and geared more toward dance music. It also is a bit loud so you will be yelling your drink orders sometimes when the jams are pumping. Make sure to check their schedule Shampoo plays host to a variety of different partys depending on the night of the week. The place is very trendy and many interesting looking people seem to flock here. Bartenders here are fast, security is excellent, price is average but venue is truly above average.

Pros: Great ambience, good place to dance, trendy

Cons: loud,crowded, trendy

what a nightmare place! I do not recommend it to anyone. the entrance is $1o but the drinks are horrible, the service is deplorable and the management simply does not care for any problems you have.

This bar has a very good main dancing floor and good techno music. There are many bars so it's not that hard to get a drink. The the hip hop room is lame. Very small and the music is at best average. The drinks where average too, not really bad but you can easily find better ones elsewhere. The problem with this club is the management. If you have any problem with the service, the manager just don't care. The guys at the door are jerks, they totally screwed up our night when they asked for our batteries and then lost them (and several others from several people). If the guys at the entrance ask for anything from you, be very aware that they are not serious nor responsible and they may lose your stuff. The manager will just tell you 'tough luck'

Went recently on a Saturday night around 11pm. Was relatively dead except for the hip-hop "room" which was filled with ballcapped teens swaying back and forth. Admitting the under-21 crowd ruins everything. I couldn't even take my beer down to the dance floor. Guess you have to choose between drinking and dancing. Dance DJ was lame and couldn't match beats or get the crowd moving at all.

Pros: Lots of room, Easy Parking

Cons: Under 21, Disinterested DJ

Wednesday Nights club Shampoo hosts Nocturne, a Goth/Industrial night that is one of the best in the Nation. I have been clubbing all across America and this night is great.

When I lived in Philly this was my favorite spot, especially Fridays. I love the nice mix of guys and the fun, funky atmosphere. Everytime I go to visit Philly it is on my dance card. The music is fantastic and the staff is friendly. There is a little bit there for everyone. Don't take this place or the great town that is Philadelphia for granted!!!!!
