Second to none!
by backtoharmony
The Troc is like no other in the USA. Have seen many of the worlds best rock bands there. The sound quality usually is dependent on the band, but the house sound and lights are more than enought. It's an art house delux backed by a history only one or two in the USA can equal.
- Pros: Unique in every way!
- Cons: Nothing

Hey mc987,
We were out and about on the internet searching our name for hidden sites we might be apart of, and we were pleasantly surprised to see such a glowing review of one of our most horrid nightmares.
After some line up changes, and extensive practice, we are ready to break into the scene for good. We added a trumpet player to compliment the sax you were so fond of. After playing for a charity event to raise money for a100% handicapped accessible playground, we are now ready for some real time gigs. You can follow our career at our site UFTmusic.kom (replace the "k" with a "c") (which is currently under construction, but should be up within two days).
Once again, thank you for the review, and we hope to see you at future shows... shows where we can live up to our full potential, on the right stage.

(sorry for the ambiguous nature of this comment posed as a review, the comment area was far too small for all I had to say)
- Pros: i can write a review
- Cons: comments are far too short
Gem found in the wrong venue
by mc987
Last night I attended the Trocadero?s battle of the bands ?The Next Big Thing? and as usual there the majority of bands were there to outdo each other with loud head banging sound, but within the punk and alternative sets there was a gem among them. As soon as I heard the twinkle of the keyboard keys and sassy saxophone wail I turned around and took notice of the 4 lads onstage. They were in stark contrast to the rest of the bunch dressed in suits and well, musicians. Where did they come from? Their music was original, smart yet, unfortunately the acoustics did not allow their true sound to come forward.
Their set was cut short, (mainly because they needed a hook to get the guys before them off the stage), the stage was cramped, and the venue - is it safe?
I found out their name; UFT which stands for Ukrainian Fish Tales, original name for an original band. There are four guys to the band, a piano player, drummer (who because the stage was so small hard to see but I liked what I heard), bass player and lead guitar/saxophone player. Young talent was onstage before me, but the wrong stage. Who are they and where else can I hear them play? I do know one thing UFT, I WANT TO HEAR MORE!!!!
Great place to see band close
by sammyslammy1
The Troc has a nice atmosphere, and is pretty small. Concerts sell out very quickly but if you do get a ticket on the floor you are very close to the stage. The balcony also has a nice view to the stage. Food is easily accessable and so is the bathroom. Parking is definately easier than at the Electric Factory, because it is located in Chinatown, which has many pay parking lots. If you want to see your favorite band, close up in a relatively small place, the Troc is the place.
- Pros: Close to stage, nice balcony, many parking lots
- Cons: small place, tickets sell out quick
Bands, beer and burlesque design upstairs from the Troc.

In Short
The Balcony's interior, designed by local artist Mark Brodzik, pays homage to the Troc's origin as a burlesque theater, with plush red-velvet accents and images of Rubenesque strippers lining the walls. The conceptual approach extends into the men's room, where a series of peepholes above the urinals offer a glimpse of an old-school pinup beauty. The Balcony is a comfortable, cozy bar that hosts shows, screens movies and serves a decent selection of brews.
THe Troc is That Spot!
by saiken3
My 1st live show was @ The Troc just a week ago after the worst vacation I've had in my life! I just about forgot about it all after going to that show. They had great bands, an awesome staff, a great atmosphere and I tell you you will have a good time here wether you're checkin' out a band or you're there for their Monday night movie special! You can't beat this place!
- Pros: The Staff, the music, the atmosphere
- Cons: None, I loved it!
Former vaudeville theater keeps kids of all ages happy with punk, indie rock and metal.

In Short
With vaulted ceilings, large stage and balcony adorned with baroque carvings, the Troc is the kind of old-fashioned space they don't make anymore. While the entertainment might not be as exciting as the striptease acts of yore, the Troc still is a good place to see a rock show. The Troc books a diverse spectrum of bands, but as one of Philly's few all-ages venues, it tends to focus on punk, ska, goth and metal.
the troc rocks !!

the music, the drinks, the staff...it all rocks!!! love the building...one of the citys best atmospheres...check out your favorite bands (big and small) or just check out some local music !!! you will love it every time!
- Pros: intimate, affordable, great sound
Troc Rocks!
by sarbear1605
The best thing about Trocadero is the bands they feature! Bands like Sleater-Kinney and Le Tigre, who you NEVER get to hear. The sets are long, and from my experience, the sound is fine. It's a great place to go to hear the bands you love, and pretty much know that only the die-hard fans will be there.
- Pros: Great Bands, Relatively Cheap
- Cons: Hot
will not be back to the troc
by davew61
drove 3 hours to see the reverand horton heat.1st 3 songs--NO VOCALS in the mix.rest of the set--the guitar was mixed so low you could barely hear it.people around me were shaking their heads in utter astonishment at the awful sound.when you cant get the sound correct for a trio,jesus-----
needless to say this was my last trip to the croc.
- Pros: high stage, good sightlines
- Cons: accoustics=le crap, no a/c, parking
