In Short – Tapping into a growing trend, this full-service salon was designed with the modern man in mind. Many locations provide complimentary beverages (read: beer) and some strategically set up TVs so guys can pass the time watching sports while getting their toes buffed. Classic barbershop services include haircuts, color and hot towels, but newer takes on male grooming go as far as mini facials, skin-conditioning paraffin hand dips, scalp massages and waxing services.

Absurd obligatory options

by needabarber

They don't give you the option of getting just a haircut. You have to get the facial, parrafin wax and hand treatment all together for 43 dollars. Sorry but that is ridiculous.

  • Pros: Probably good if you want the full treatment
  • Cons: Not if you just want a simple haircut

comfort and attention even for old guys, nice people, and clean place. easy to find and my wife liked me gone for a while. they didn't make me wait and my hair looked good. I'm going to take my son next time.

  • Pros: guys only
  • Cons: don't let your wife set up the appointment cause I missed the game

I'm taking my business elsewhere...

by EntertainmentExec

Their comprehensive grooming package is enticing, which includes a mini-facial, paraffin hand wax, scalp massage, cut and style. And while the stylist was very courteous, attentive and skillful, frills fail to compensate for the core foundation of any business, customer service. In my opinion, the management falls pathetically short of accommodating the customer. I found the representatives at the front desk to be arrogant, callous, impatient and aloof. They seem to have no interest in retaining business, perhaps because they are content with the size of their existing clientele. It's a small facility and, consequently, it appears as if they have to book clients back to back without any breathing room. On one occasion, I arrived approximately 10 minutes late after battling traffic for over 45 minutes from the suburbs. Upon parking my car, they called to inform me that they would not be able to offer me the main service which motivated me to take the trip in the first place.

There are other games in town and salons have to cater to the client as long as the expectations are reasonable. I'd recommend checking out Style of Man. It's a very similar salon with two Philadelphia locations (one right across the street inside the Liberty Place) and far superior attention to customer satisfaction from my experience.

  • Pros: Enticing packages, Decent Value, Some talented stylists
  • Cons: Overbooked, Unfriendly Management

They offer high-end men's grooming services for hair, body and nails, at affordable prices. The first American Male was opened in 1997 by the Raylon Corporation, a full-service wholesale distributor of beauty supply products in PA, NJ and DE. The purpose of the salon was to serve as a learning lab to try and better understand and service male clients in a salon especially for men. With virtually no marketing, the salon began to grow and other American Male salons were opened in the surrounding areas. Now American Male offers a franchise so that others can operate their own American Male salon.
