Fun Time. Not at all what we expected but ended up having a good time. The food was interesting and server was nice. Didn't like the chairs.... the wooden chairs were too stiff to sit for a long time. Worth the drive though.
A truly magical place--Every single time!. Have dined here several times now and each and every time has been absolutely magical. The setting, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the food, are incredible. Without question, mine and my wife's favorite. The backroads drive through the Chester County countryside (or better yet, the motorcycle ride!) is rewarded by arriving at the restaurant's candle-lit location warming the night. The weeks-long wait for a weekend reservation speaks to the reputation of this tiny, out of the way, incredibly charming location. The wild boar, the venison, the smoked and grilled pork--every single meal has been spectacular. Enough reading--call and make your reservation now!
Make the trip to remote Chester County to discover this cozy B.Y.O.B. hideaway..
In Short
From the outside the building (which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places) still looks like the country store it once was. On the inside, the decor has an updated French country feel, with limited adornments save for the wicker baskets and ceramic roosters. A seasonal menu of French-New American fare changes nightly. The restaurant's organic garden supplies all its fresh herbs. Main entree musts: tender venison and roasted rack of lamb.
Exceptional. This country-setting BYO is one of the best fine dining restaurants we have been to in a long while. It ranks right up there with the best Philadelphia has to offer. For appetizers, the lobster/diver scallop seviche was amazing, as was the pheasant with balsamic reduction. The roasted fig with goat cheese was also delicious. All 4 entrees, medium-rare ostrich with shallots, rack of lamb with pistachio crust, Branzino and a perfectly cooked steak, were beautifully presented and were outstanding. Desserts, including an almond tort and a bread pudding were excellent. With coffee, the bill came to around $90 per couple, before tip. You must call well in advance to get a table. We are looking forward to returning.
Great BYOB!. Wonderful dining experience. All 4 entrees were perfectly done and the appetizers and deserts were wonderful. Not a single complaint. I've eaten at a lot of BYOB's in the Philly area and this has to be the cream of the crop! Keep up the good work.
Romantic Rendezvous. Dined here numerous times over the years and am never disappointed. While difficult for non-locals to find, it is well worth the venture. Food quality and presentation are excellent and the atmosphere/location is charming. A must visit BYOB.
