Good service. I usually dont write reviews but a lot of people are trashing a good store. I have been shopping there since I was 14 I am now 26. Recently I needed my guitar set up for a big show coming up and they rushed me to the top of the list so I would have it in time. I also bought a guitar there took it home and once I plugged it into my Mesa didnt really like the sound of the guitar, they took it back no questions asked and marked it as a used item so it wouldnt get sold as new which some stores dont do. Whenever I go in there regardless of how long its been the guys in the guitar department always remember me and ask me how my equipment is holding up and they actually remember the brands I use. I also call in a lot and have them special order things for me and its always right and on time.

Cons: They dont always carry a lot of high end amps so I usually have to take my own stuff in there to test things out before buying them. Yes they will let you do that, just call ahead.

Everyone thinks they should be waited on at the drop of a hat when there are 30 other people in the store, be realistic. As far as the comment below about them thinking they know Van Halen, lots of musicians do Clinics at Sam Ash's including Van Halen so they just might know him. :)

Horrible service. Do Not go to this store if you value your sanity. This store lacks what most musicians need. The people who work there are not as knowledgible as they should be. I called up to see if they had predrilled tuning pegs for a full size violin. They said yes, so I went down to pick some up. Turns out they didn't. I ordered some and they said a week. A week turned into a month of calling them up and getting a response that there was something wrong with their distributer. "They" finally came in and the were the wrong size pegs. This was AFTER I brought the original pegs in the first time to compare what they had. I have a german violin with no damage to the tuning holes. It has been well kept, and have been playing for years. They are not that hard to replace. The tuning pegs that I received ends were as big and the "bigger" hole on the violin, which means I wouldve had to ream the violin to the point that if the hole ever got any bigger I wouldv'e had to either get a new one or major worl. All and all I would like to thank the store for wasting my time. Now I have to go back and return them and also am returning the strings and bow I bought too. At a time people do not have the money to invest in music and all the arts are suffering, you would think that a larger chain store such as this would take more pride. As for their guitar and bass selection, which I also play both. It sucks, and I more expensive then guitar center. GC has better service, selection, and knowledgible staff that do not have big heads on their shoulders. And the way that they talk in sam ash you would think that they know van halen personally. They should stick with guitar hero.

Corporate megastore lacks personalized service, makes up for it with abundance of product.. In Short
A one-stop superstore for virtually every instrument, Sam Ash's enormous inventory can be a bit much to take in at first. Indeed, the sound of musicians of every skill level simultaneously test-driving keyboards, basses, guitars and drums resembles Satan's orchestra. But if you need a reed, strings, sticks, or anything else large or small, Sam Ash probably has it in stock.
