Bright latin fun. I wasn't a big fan of typical Mexican food, but this place, I have to admit, has changed my opinion to a degree. I was there for an early Sunday lunch. There's not much parking in their lot, but I found a spot. There is a bar area with TVs and a dining area also with a TV. The decor is very typically garishly latin: bright colors and desert-themed. My waiter was fine and told me politely about what was on offer. I got free fried tortilla chips with three different salsas. The best I've had. Munched very quickly. I ordered the taco platter based on a review online and didn't regret it. I got three soft-shelled tacos, one each of shrimp, pork, and beef tongue. The tacos all had chopped onions and fresh cilantro. The beef tongue was out of this world! The tacos came with pretty tasteless rice and refried beans. I also ordered a special Mexican sangria soda which was fab. All in all, the platter was $7 and the soda was a whopping $2.50. I will be back.

Authentic Mexican food in the heart of Norristown. Had lunch at Michoacana yesterday. First of all the service was great, prompt service, and attentive. Drinks had a nice selection of traditional drinks, including selection of jarritos. Once DC had water (which they were prompt at refilling,) and another had a mixture of tamarind and negro modelo. I had horchata that was quite good.

Chips were served with three salsas, the verde was the best., and we had some guacamole also. Freshly made but a bit underseasoned.

Dining companions had flautas and tortillas with carnitas, pollo and camarones. Chicken tortillas were a bit bland, Flautas were good but nothing to write home about. My lunch was a torta cubana, a mixture of steak, sausage, ham, an egg, hot peppers lettuce tomato mayo on a crusty roll served warm accompanied by fries.

Total for lunch was 35 for three.

Food is just okay, the service is terrible.. My family and I decided to try this place for the first time this week. As someone who eats Mexican food regularly, I was somewhat disappointed. The menu was extensive, with many authentic offerings. We tried the appetizer sampler, and some of the offerings seemed stale. Overall, the food wasn't bad--definitely better than most Mexican in the area. One plus was that they used fresh avacado slices in many dishes.

The service, on the other hand, was terrible. One of the slowest waiters I've ever had. The waiter never came by to check on us once the food arrived. My husband had to ask a different waiter for his shells. That waiter found our waiter, maybe 15 minutes later, and instead of passing the message, we had to request shells again. Probably another ten before they finally came.

Better than Baha Fresh, but if you're looking for the best authentic Mexican in the area, I'd suggest La Tolteca in Delaware (202, right by the 95).

Happy to find great mexican in PA!. I've been spoiled by great Mexican food in California and in Texas and was worried that I'd have to give up my weekly fix once I moved to PA. I was thrilled to find this place with great salsas (three bowls come to your table!!), freshly made tortilla chips, and delicious carnitas. (Cheese dip? I've never ordered cheese dip in a mexican restaurant so I can't speak for their cheese dip. Doesn't sound like she was looking for authentic, but rather tex-mex.) Their corn tortillas did not seem to be handmade, but you can't have everything, and everything else I had was great.

The neighborhood is not great but I didn't feel unsafe and I was very glad to be able to park in their big parking lot next door. The service was not particularly speedy, but I did find the servers to be very pleasant, and I would go regularly without any reservation.

Taqueria La Michoacana best Mexican food in Montgomery County, PA. I live in Norristown and have eaten at all of the 30 or more of the Mexican restaurants in town and Taqueria La Michoacana is the best authentic Mexican cuisine in town. The food is always excellent and the portion sizes are huge. The restaurant is very clean and classy Mexican decor. I especially love all of their seafood meals not to mention the shrimp cocktail which comes in 3 sizes and is chock full of large shrimp, a meal in itself although it is under appetizers. I highly recomend this restaurant, great for the whole family and small parties.
