Tips for Tommy's Original Pizza

November 03, 2012

Sometimes an experience is so bad that simply contacting the owner is not enough. Tommy’s original Pizza’s staff is so incompetent and unprofessional that something on a larger scale must be done. The owner needs to re-evaluate how this restaurant is operated and investigate how their restaurant is run when they are not there. Chester County needs to do something to bring this establishment up to an acceptable level.

The worst of their motley crew is an angry, rude and completely miserable waitress named Emily H. who has the attitude of a thug and has no business dealing with people, especially in a restaurant.

After being seated by a zombie-like hostess we were greeted by a an angry, rude and completely miserable waitress named Emily H. who did not hide the fact that she was very unhappy about something and obviously did not want to be there. After receiving our drinks, Emily avoided our table like it was on fire. After waiting over 40 minutes for our food to arrive I finally walked across the restaurant to Emily since she would not come near our table, and told her I wanted a check for the iced tea’s and the fries because we were tired of waiting and were leaving. Rudely and loudly in front of the other customers she said, “No, if you’re leaving then tell them at the counter what you had.” We received no explanation as to why there was a delay with our food, no apology for having to wait so long, no effort to resolve the situation, Emily just became ruder and more miserable than when she “greeted us” at our table forty minutes earlier.

The people behind the counter found everything very amusing while Emily’s anger became more vocal when she heard me explaining the situation to the man at the register. I said all I would have needed was an explanation why our dinner was taking so long. A few simple words would have smoothed the situation. Instead, Emily came charging into the kitchen and starts yelling at me that she didn’t need to explain what was going on because I could see her standing in the kitchen earlier. Being a waitress, or at least hired to be one, she spends her time alternating between the tables and the kitchen and seeing her in either place told me nothing, I just knew that we were waiting an excessive amount of time for our food and that she was avoiding us. The crew behind the counter continued laughing and making comments under their breath, Emily continued her angry rant about how I was wrong to not accept the unexplained long wait.

My wife and I should have just gotten up and left but I chose to do the honorable thing and pay for the drinks and fries. A good restaurant would have apologize for the bad experience and not let me pay for such a long wait but I had to stand there and be ridiculed by Emily and the staff while Zack took his time at the register.

The final humiliation came while we were walking out through the restaurant towards the door when they started laughing and shouting across the restaurant in front of the other customers sarcastically, “Thank you, hope you enjoyed your dinner, and come again soon!”

Under the previous owner Tommy’s Original Pizza was a friendly, quality restaurant that my wife and I have been going to for years. Now it is a classless pizza shop that is run like a street corner. A copy of this complaint is going to the Chester County Chamber Of Commerce along with The National Restaurants Association. Businesses that operate so poorly cannot be allowed to continue operating this way and must be brought to a higher standard or forced to close.

Something For Everyone. Long noted for its steaks, hoagies and pizza, Ron's has an innovative, expansive menu with something for everyone. It is universally high quality food. Try their protein platters--carb counting never tasted sooooo good!
