Editorial Review for Senora's Authentic Mexican – by Kat McAndrew
The Scene
Family-owned and operated, this Mexican strip mall eatery in downtown West Chester draws local families and college students alike. Sombreros and Mexican art adorn the bright yellow walls, while festive piñatas dangle from the ceiling. Service is brisk
The Food
Everything is simple and fresh. Start with the Cabo nachos--handmade tortilla chips loaded with black beans, Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses, and a choice of shredded steak, roast pork, chicken or spicy chorizo sausage. Quesadilla con camarones is filled with baby shrimp and cheeses, topped with cilantro and scallions and then grilled. The "dueling tacos" feature a white corn tortilla stuffed with shredded sirloin steak and a blue corn tortilla filled with savory shredded chicken breast -- both crowned with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and mild green chiles. If room permits for a homemade dessert, go for the fruit chimis--a fried tortilla stuffed with your choice of apple, peach, strawberry or blueberry pie filling, then rolled in sugar.

I used to work here. I worked the counter and then I did serving. If you seen the things that go on in the kitchen then you would not be eating here. Food is dropped on the floor and still used and those salsas you pay $2 for a 2 ounce cup are weeks old. Don't eat the guacamole either, yuk. More food there is premade than people think. The tortilla chips are homeade but are usually kept in a huge lexan container for weeks at a time while employees snack on them and let air in the container causing them to go stale quickly. Parking is a continous problem. And what mexican restaurant doesn't have a liquor license??? Wouldn't you like a Carona with your "authentic, haha" tacos. The owner Steve Lytle is a drunk who swears at his wife and kids. There "office" if that's what you can call it is a disgrace. How they possibly keep track of money in that mess is a mystery to me. Someone call the health inspector and the IRS to shut this place down. I recieved no W-4 from them either, someone doesn't pay there taxes.....
Pros: Poorly ran establishment, not enough parking, BYOB at a Mexican restaurant???
Cons: Are there any?

I took my friend here based on the good reviews on this site but I should have listened to the person who gave it a bad rating: the service was good, the food was OK, the prices were alarming. Chips & salsa were not free but it was pretty expensive for the fake cheese and the small amount of salsa they gave (start at $5). My friend asked for more salsa and they didn't inform her that its extra. Since we are college students with a limited budget, we split a shrimp quesadilla (dinner style for $13) and we were disappointed with the size; it was pretty thin and didn't contain much. The prices were pretty expensive for how much you got. The food was good but nothing amazing; didn't make up for the high price. The staff was nice enough and the salsa was fresh, but I don't think I'll be back here for another meal because of the price. Oh and apparently they don't give coin change since our bill was $20.71 and we paid with $25 and got $4 back.
Pros: Good salsa, friendly service
Cons: Too expensive, small portions
