Paoli >Van Cleve Collection
Terrible Customer Service.
I had made an appointment to look at bridal gowns. I arrived on time with my mother. We were casually, but nicely dressed.
We were greeted by a sales associate who told us that she would be handling out appointment. She looked us over, walked away and left us standing unattended with no instructions in the front of the store. She returned with her colleague. Right in front of us she told her colleague she did not want to handle our appointment and she would take the other appointment for our time slot (who had not yet arrived.) She then turned around and walked away. It was extraordinarily rude and off putting.
The sales associate we were left to work with, while pleasant, was young and inexperienced. She struggled to make recommendations. She failed to pin or clip the dresses so I could really see what the dresses looked like. No veils or assessories were offered. My appointments at other stores on the Main Line last 1-1.5 hours. My appointment lasted 20 minutes at Van Cleve because of the sales woman's inability to assist me. She did nothing other than help lift the dresses over my head.
The shop itself was dirty. The upholstey and the bottoms of the dresses were filthy. There were stink bugs climbing on the curtains.
Bottom line, do not expect any customer service from this shop unless you meet whatever their service criteria is. That is quite frankly foolish on the Main Line because you can't always tell who has money to spend and regardless all customers deserve the same level of service.
Several other stores in the vicinity sell the same designers in a much more pleasant, clean environment. I would not recommend this location to anyone.
Will never shop there again.
I purchased a mother of the bride dress there. When I went back to pick the dress up, I tried it on to check out the length to see if alterations were needed. The owner told me that no one was available to alter the length and that it looked fine as is; she seemed like she was trying to rush me out of the store. Additionally, there were wrinkles in the dress that needed to be steamed out before I could wear it. When a saleswoman was helping to steam the dress for me, the owner, in front of me, angrily ordered the saleswoman to leave me and go assist her with another client trying on dresses. The saleswoman was embarrased and apologized to me, but left to go to the other person. I left with the dress, and had to take it to a local seamstress to get the dress shortened and steamed out.
I thought perhaps my experience was unique, but a few weeks later I was in a local boutique and the owner and I got talking about the upcoming weddings in our families. She asked me where I purchased my dress, and when I told her, she said she had a very bad experience with the arrogant Van Cleve owner and would not shop there again. They have nice clothes, but it's not worth the attitude the owner dishes out.
Bottom line...they cater to Main Line socialites. If you are not in that crowd, don't expect any customer service once they have your money.
Wow - great boutique!. I even took pictures, it was such a great setting! The team of professional bridal consultants included a designer. The selection was phenominal and a great range of prices. Van Cleve's is a perfect start to my wedding memories and album.... they even have a photographer. Check out their website, you won't be sorry!
My Dream Dress!. I found my dream bridal shop! Not only are the bridal gowns fantastic, but I can put my own gown together by choosing the parts I like and the designer can draw my very own dream bridal gown. Even my bridesmaids are happy because they can be designed to look best on them as well. For what I would spend on a beautiful gown, it can be a design especially for me. Thank you Van Cleve's!
Excellent Service!!. I went into the Van Cleve Collection with my daughter looking for a Mother of the Bride dress for my son's wedding very close to the wedding date. I was very nervous because of the timing but they put me to ease. There was a great selection of dresses and the sales women were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction!
OUTSTANDING!!. Sales girls were very kind and extremely helpful!! I went in completly blank not knowing what I wanted and came out with my entire bridal party (mother included) dressed from head to toe! I was very pleased and would reccomend The Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve's to anyone!!
STAY AWAY!! Dishonest and terrible service. Do not order any dress from this shop. Overpriced and dishonest service. I ordered a bridesmaid dress from Van Cleve back in March. I usually take a size 8 but know that when it comes to these types of dresses a 10 is a perfect fit. So when I went in to get measured, I specifically requested a size 10. When the dress arrived I was surprised to find that the dress had been ordered in a size 14. Instead of admitting a mistake had been made and offering to do the alterations for free (which any good business would do), the sales consultant proceeded to try to blame me and the designer (Vera Wang) for the mistake. All they care about is money and they were looking to make some off of me with the extensive alterations that had to be made to the dress. The issue was never resolved as all employees and the owner began ignoring my phone calls and would never call me back. Not the ideal customer service. I will never shop here again and I will advise friends, family and strangers to stay away at all cost. Dishonest and greedy.
terrible service. Do not waste your money here!!!! This place has terrible service and very expensive prices. There are much better places to buy a dress in the region.
