In Short
Philadelphia International Airport officially opened in 1940 as Philadelphia Municipal Airport. Compact yet robust, the airport has six terminals, including Terminal F, which handles mostly regional traffic. There also is an international terminal, which accomodates 12 wide-body gates. USAir takes up the bulk of PHL's traffic, but American also has a sizeable presence. The airport gallery presents regular exhibitions of local and nationally known artists in each terminal. A miniature version of kids' learning playhouse Please Touch Museum is in Concourse E.
PIA is Ok. The Philadelphia airport has a lot of space dedicated to retail. There are the usual bars and restaurants and stores. Once difference is that everything is new (renovated within the last 2 years). Moving walkways are available in between terminals and you can plug in your laptop if you choose your seat wisely.
