Editorial Review for Steve's Prince of Steaks – by Lynn Allan

In Short
Although some guy named Pat claims he's the king of steaks, the Great Northeast's Steve is happy to take his own place in royalty. Using a flat-top grill, trimmed slices of beef and the traditional toppings of onions (fried or raw) and cheese (Wiz, American or Provolone), this Prince's gooey sandwiches are considered one of the best in the area.

The Extras

Unlike many of South Philly's other shops, Steve's offers additional toppings on steaks such a mushrooms, peppers and pizza sauce. Chicken steaks and hoagies are also available.

Good, But tastes more like Roast Beef with Cheese...It is not the place I would send a first timer to get a "Philly Cheese Steak".

Cons: Not as lively due to location.

A really good sandwich!! The only problem is that the meat is scarce. This joint has built it's reputation deservedly so. I am sure that by now Steve has secured the future of his family for generations to come. It would be very nice for him to show his appreciation to the consumers that helped put him there with a "perfect" steak, add enough meat so the roll is not the featured taste.

Pros: a good philly steak

Cons: Where's the beef??

Editor's Review

While South Philly may be the birthplace of the cheesesteak, this Northeast shop does the classic sandwich justice.  See the full editorial review.
