Take the Good with the Bad
by Valphilly at Citysearch
I am a long term patient of Dr. Wasserman's. But, I will be as unbiased as possible.
1. If you have a real health concern (skin cancer/funky moles, persistent warts, odd rash, eczema/psoriasis), he is definitely worth going to.
2. The nurse is his wife (which could explain a few experiences)
3.Jeffhealth is a long-term friend of Dr. Wasserman's. I've heard plenty of stories over the years about Jeff, the doctor from North Jersey, who he stops to see occasionally on his way to/from NY. He wrote a fair review below.
CON:
looooong waits (in the waiting room, and examining room)
controlling personality (which seems unnecessary when you're compliant)
he takes everything personally
I've watched people get escorted out of his office
I've heard him holler at people on the phone
rescheduling is difficult- harassed me when I needed to reschedule. His receptionist called me at work, then put me on hold so he could yell at me!
he yells at patients and makes them feel bad
he tried giving me parenting advice!
egotistical
PRO:
Thorough skin exams
* Explains and educates (shows you textbook and pamphlets)
Knowledgeable about dermatology (and baseball)
Old doc style- chatty, personable
Medical assistants are friendly
Keeps my psoriasis under control...knew what it was the moment he looked at it
Called my house when he received my biopsy report and needed further treatment
If you have something minor, he's not worth going to because of his erratic emotions. But, if you need thorough care from someone who really understands medicine/dermatology (not all doctors do), this is a good person to see- just brace yourself.
- Pros: good medical knowledge
- Cons: poor bedside manner
I second, "ugh"

I've never been to Dr. Wasserman. But what I can comment on is how he treats service providers. I agree with the other posts that he thinks he's an exceptional human being. But I've seen him go for the jugular on a store clerk to the point where she was reduced to tears from taking his abuse. He called her "stupid" and a "liar" and tried to get her fired. He raised his voice and totally lost his composure. I can't remember what his complaint was about, I just remember thinking, "This guy is nuts!" This is the type of doctor that should be reported.
- Pros: none
- Cons: he scares the heck out of me!
Best Doctor My Family Goes To
by JillNurse11 at Citysearch
Doctor Wasserman is very complete and detailed. He is like the old time doctors our families grew up with. I am a nurse at a University Hospital in Philadelphia and my professional friends there seem to know he is the one to see. My whole family goes there and he has picked up small skin cancers that were just beginning and were extremely small on my grandmother. You do wait when you go there but it is worth it because he talks to you and really knows you if you are his regular patient. You feel like you received a detailed visit and there is no rushing here like in other doctors offices where you just feel like a number. His staff makes sure you remember your appointments. He emphasizes follow up to see the results of treatment and I as a nurse know how important that is. I wish my regular docs paid as much attention! Some of my regular doctors call in medicines on the phone without even looking at me! You won't get that with Dr. Wasserman!
- Pros: Gives me all the time I need
- Cons: I don't know of any
