In Short
Also known as South Street Antiques Market, this place set up shop in a turn-of-the-century house of worship in 1983. These days, about 25 mostly unmarked, colorful booths sell their collectible old wares on the ground floor and in the basement. At the entrance, a vendor who bills herself as "Mod Girl" boasts a booth that drips with costume adornments: Bakelite bangles, sparkly animal pins, plenty of beads and baubles. Both upstairs and down, the selection is heavy on mid-twentieth century.

The Antiquarian is nostalgia at its best, walking in it is colorful and exciting, take your time browsing because there are hidden treasures everywhere. It is pricey but some pieces are worth it. Do not be hasty though because most vendors will bargain. And as far as the vendors go, most are friendly and helpful but I did run into one extremely rude and snobby lady, which was a big turn off. It is hard to miss if you know what you are looking for, it is a big old church. It is open every day but on Saturdays and Sundays the basement is open as well for more shopping.

If you get the chance please check out Wilbur Vintage in the basement of the Antiquarian. He sells vintage and designer clothing for reasonable prices. Every first friday of the month he offers and 10% discount and a glass or two of wine. I love this quaint shop!
