Nice homey spot amidst the tourist traps in South St. You can have a nice, quiet meal in there & feel like they care, because they do.
Wonderful, authentic Italian food. I've been here several times and they never fail the impress. The bread is homemade and amazing. From the ravioli to the chicken dishes, everything is amazing. The desserts are wonderful too. I would suggest not going right before a showing of 'Menopause: the musical' which is at the Society Hill Playhouse, if you are not going to the show. They have a discount for ticket holders but we went at 5pm on a Saturday and it was packed! After the large groups of women left, it was much quieter. I'm glad to see they are so busy but the usually romantic atmosphere isn't quite the same when there are several large parties. Will definately go again!
Choose to eat here before or after the theater!.
Al accomodated our party of twelve before we headed to the theater. He and his wait staff attended to all our dining needs. He also chatted with us about his connection with the theater group, very impressive. I would recommend ordering from the price fix menu for a large party, the choices were delicious and tax and tip are included. The atmosphere was perfect and we had a lovely meal, great conversation and my friends chatted about it all night! Al let us sample this delicious grape/chocolate drink and I put mine in my coffee, yum! We had a fun girls night out and Al and the La Fourno staff just added to a wonderful memory!
Thanks for everything!
Great little Italian place, good atmosphere, nice service. We went there and I was starving, having just undergone a medical procedure to extract pre-blood stem cells in preparation for chemotherapy to treat my cancer. We were the only ones in the joint between the hours of 4 - 5PM. The waiter came by often to refill our waters while giving us all the time we needed to pick. My wife was given two free samples of wine, and she settled on one, which was brought. The food was oustanding, and all the staff there catered to us (since we were the only ones, it being a slack day and time), bussing the table, cleaning it, bringing fresh bread. Doubtlessly had it been more packed we would have had less prompt service, but it still would have been great. I highly recommend this place; the neighbor is great for walking and taxis and buses are plentiful, though no rail lines are close.
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!.
It is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city.
Food is wonderful! Great Staff! Excellent Service!
I love their Grilled Calamari and the Pollo Marsala!
I highly recommend!!!
Fabulous Italian Experience--Great Food & First Class Customer Service!.
I moved to Philadelphia from Boston almost a year ago. After one trip to La Fourno Trattoria, it has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia! When I called and asked for a last minute reservation for fifteen people, I wasn?t put on hold but immediately transferred to the Manager. The manager was extremely courteous and cared enough to ask about the special occasion we would be celebrating. He also called the day before my dinner in order to confirm my reservation.
When my party arrived, our table was beautifully set up and tucked away in a convenient spot. The ambience of the restaurant is cosy and perfect for a large group or an intimate dinner for two. The lighting, the candle?it was great.
The waiters are excellent and were always smiling (such a delight!). They checked up on us from time to time, but with perfect precision (enough to make sure we had whatever we needed but not too much so that we felt crowded and uncomfortable). The manager checked up on us as well. Sometimes we had more than one waiter helping us. Our food got to us right on time and everything was delicious. All our orders were correct and every dish was prepared just right. The portions are large and the bread is divine! I had never been to Trattoria neither had any of my friends; we unanimously agreed that we had a fabulous time. The service was first class and I plan to celebrate more milestones there. And in between those milestones, I?ll treat my friends from Boston to a delicious Italian experience on South Street.
I eat out a lot and can confidently say that this La Fourno Trattoria gets my highest recommendation. Everyone there is so friendly. The manager and waiters were genuinely happy to have us there. I see myself making multiple trips out there in the future!
PS: Also, there is a VERY CLEAN bathroom convenently located upstairs. This is a big deal for me!!
Best Tiramisu anywhere. The staff is extremely friendly, whether you are with a party of two or a party of 10. The pizza is excellent. It comes out hot and crispy, with the perfect amount of toppings. The tiramisu is the best in the world. I have tried tiramisu at pretty much every Italian restaurant I've been to and nothing compares. It's so creamy and fluffy. There are no words to describe how amazing it is. Try it!
Comfortable atmosphere/great food. Dined here after a show. There were 10 of us and the food and service could not have been better. The servers are ALL very friendly and helpful, even if they weren't your server. The food was outstanding. As I said there were 10 of us and all of our entrees were served together and were hot, something I think is very important and found so seldom. The salad was a house salad, came with the entree, and usually they are not so good. Their house salad was fresh and very tasty. Their desserts were to die for. I can't say enough about this lovely little place tucked in on 6th and South. Don't miss it!
A South Street gem. Outstanding, relaxed Italian restaurant. Great tasting food. Reasonable prices. Friendly, thorough, good-natured service. Casual atmosphere. I'll be back.
Best Calzone I've ever had!. I cannot say enough about La Fourno. This is hands down one of, if not the best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. The service is very friendly and quick! I highly recommend the calzones, they are the best in the city. With great prices and a great atmosphere you cannot go wrong with La Fourno!
Love La Fourno. This by far is my favorite Italian restaurant. I have eaten here several times now and have never been less than completely satisfied with the food and service. I've tried most of the entrees and several of the pizzas, all of which are wonderful. The Linguini Primavera is especially good. The true treasure at this place is the amazing tiramisu, the best I've ever tasted. They have a nice selection of wine, good beer available and the coffee is excellent. Perfect every time. The place itself manages to make you feel like you aren't on South Street, which is amazing and commendable. Highly suggest tryng this place. They also deliver if you live in the general vicinity.
