For a traditional taverna experience, enter through the takeout side, past window-front spits with impaled mounds of roast lamb and beef, and ogle the steaming stainless steel trays of stuffed vegetales, potatoes and moussaka before you are seated. Souvlaki's been here for two decades and it popularity--despite fairly inhospitable service--has only grown with time. The titular souvlaki sliced into sandwiches or on a platter is a favorite choice.

This is a place for those who enjoy good food. If you didn't like the food, servers or atmosphere then go somewhere that's trendy and dark! This is all about good food, enjoying a cocktail and people watching if you like sitting at the bar, it's a great spot. Tom, the owner and his staff are friendly folks who enjoy what they do and they do it well. And when the soft shells crabs are in season it's a treat to go to SSS!

Not to argue with the other review -- but SSS is GREEK! Delicious authentic GREEK. Hummus, pita, felafel, grilled fish, wonderful appetizers (if a bit on the salty side), lots of vegetables, a fabulous restaurant that has been a fixture of South Street for 20+ years. A real homey place. YUMMY.
